We had the good fortune of connecting with Lori Arbel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lori, what role has risk played in your life or career?
You will get a YES if you have good intentions and are lovingly persistent.

I am an artist, creativity coach, and the publisher of Macaroni Kid Fort Lauderdale & Miami East.

I tell my children to keep calling the business if they are a good fit. When our heart wants to authentically share business gems with the community they usually say yes! Keep sharing your purpose, your field of expertise, and your artistry with the community. They will find the right moment to showcase your gifts as well. We build together supporting one another.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

When we provide a platform for businesses to showcase their gifts to our community, our community is a better place. One business share can make a massive gift to our societies well being and can help their day be productive.

I’m so proud of our neighborhood’s desire to express and be heard. As the publisher of MacKid I’ve created an artist spotlight to showcase student artists in our community. I’ve also created a junior reporter program allowing youth to share their voices through words.

I want the world to know that I love helping the community and that art has the power to inspire and heal. We must remember how important self-care is. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come as an artist. I often look at drawings from childhood, college, young career, and now. The artworks document time; like journal pages in a diary. My works honor where I came from and where I’m going; layers of experiences and ancestors in my works. They are infused with teachings, lessons, and stories to be shared with our world. Just like as our free Macaroni Kid event calendar documents all the local happenings and our articles share inspiration for our community. Please submit your events to our free calender and ask how to sponsor an article or advertisement to support our families.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely head to the Perez museum to see amazing architecture, art, and to possibly spot a dolphin or manatee!!! I would then head to Wynwood for some yummy food. A quick drive across the bridge to enjoy an epic ocean view.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Dynamo the founder of Axen! Listened to me from his heart and believed in my vision and the vision of many other folks in our group….this gifting of inspiration truly goes back and forth. When you “show up!” like Evan Snow from Choose954 said, magic always happens.
