We had the good fortune of connecting with Lucas Alcantara and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lucas, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I got tired of feeling stuck. Starting your own business, it comes with a sense of freedom. When I was looking at a typical career path with my employer it seemed like there was a cap. With the power of the internet now, your own business, the cap is based on your capacity. And I truely feel like I have the capacity to do great.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I recently came to the realization that being an artist isn’t necessarily about the physical art whether it be music or painting or hand crafts or whatever. It’s really about having a unique prospective on the world and telling that through whatever medium you have more of a passion for it. It’s taken me a long time to to get the music dialed in to where I believe its good enough to cut through. Now I’m most excited to share my story and perspectives on life. . The real goal of all this is for that story to hopefully inspire or just make people feel better. Pursuing your dreams is one of the hardest thing an individual can do in life so I would not recommend it for the faint hearted. However, I will say you build confidence with progress. I focused on perfecting the art and craft before really pushing on the marketing and socials side. I found peace in faith and belief in a higher power to overcome my challenges. It works for me to keep me on the right path and find that there is a purpose for all the suffering.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Knaus Berry Farms for Cinnamon Rolls. BRING CASH. BunBurry for Dinner. They have the best Argentinian steak. In terms of nightlife, I don’t really go out that much anymore cause I’m usually in the studio but when I did Bodega in South Beach was alot of fun. Treehouse in Miami Beach is fun for house and techno. Space does free yoga at 4:20 on Saturdays and turns into an epic club at night. Visit Wynwood walls and go out in Wynwood.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My friends and family. They’ve been supportive since Day 1 and never made me doubt I couldn’t do it.
