Meet Luis De Sousa | Photographer & Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Luis De Sousa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Luis, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Everything in my career is based on risk, From the willing to learn and connect with people, to monetize, everything has been a risk.
When you believe in yourself, in your art and your project, you have to take the risk of putting the work into it, you never know if something is going to work or not, just work hard, be consistent, be patient and that hard work will pay off

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m not sure if I choose photography or photography choose me, it came to my life when I didn’t really know what I wanted to do and since I started I have doubted about If this is for me or not (I have the impostor syndrome) but everything that i doubt something happens and is like the universe show that I’m in the right path, that this is what i was born for.
And like i said i grow up influenced by movies so when i take pictures I want to tell a story, i want to have a message to the world, and most of the time that message is that you Can do anything you want, you Dont need to fit in a box, you Dont need to be “acceptable” for the society, as long as you dont hurt anybody do wathever will make you happy, period.
Also my i want to give the time of their life to anybody that works with me, that more than a photoshoot they will have a experience, i want them to enjoy it, that for at léast a moment i Can make their lifes better.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I normally dont go out a lot but when i do I like to hang out in some hidden gems in Miami, the perfect plan for me would be a night at Lagniappe where you Can enjoy a good glass of wine and beer, eat amazing cheese and prosciutto, live jazz music and you Can Connect with a lot of different people, Also i would spend the day on Crandon Park at Key Biscayne, to me thats the perfect Beach in Miami.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shoutout to my Mother, she teached me that you need work hard no matter what, you need to hustle, that if you fall you get up as many times as you need.
Also I want to give a shoutout to my Father he was the person that influence me to fell in love with all kinds of art, starting with movies and music, and later photography.
The last shoutout would be to Mike Tang, I took that decision to be a photographer because his style, his vibe and his message show that photography is one of the most beautiful things in live, this Can take you to connect with people, help others and make beautiful memories that you will preserve forever.
