We had the good fortune of connecting with Luli Gamburd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Luli, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and this upbringing impacted who I am today because I launched my business, Kalmateh, as a result of the customs and traditions of my Argentinean upbringing. Kalmateh is a modern Yerba Mate drinkware company, and I started it because I wanted to blend the traditional world with the modern world and to introduce Yerba Mate here in the US.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets Kalmateh apart from the other yerba mate companies is that we are the first modern yerba mate company to exist that blends the traditional way of drinking yerba mate with a modern, elegant and stylish look and feel. We also sell the highest quality, organic unsmoked yerba mate from a four-generation family farm in Misiones, Argentina and we always strive to find the best quality for our products. The road to where we are today was definitely not easy and required a lot of effort, learning, and learning from mistakes but I overcame the challenges by also taking them as learning experiences and by listening to mentors’ advice. At Kalmateh, we are a family team striving to introduce our passion for yerba mate to the rest of the world!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them one day on a boat day and dinner at Kikis, one day to yoga at Sol followed by the beach at Soho House and another day for a fun workout at Barrys or Soul Cycle, followed by a late lunch at Mandolin and dinner at Swan.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My dad is my biggest mentor, always pushing me to go after my dreams and teaching me all there is to know about running my own business.
