We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristi Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristi, are there risks you’ve taken that you are really happy about in retrospect?
Yes, there are plenty of risks that I have taken and although it all worked out for the best, those risks weren’t easy to take. I’ve asked myself many times (and questioned them) if the decisions I’ve made were the right ones. Were they worth it? Am I on the right track? What have I accomplished? I’ve learned to listen to that “gut feeling” and reflect on how my business makes me feel. The answer is already there, we just need some time to truly find it. During my career change from a 9-5 job to the fitness industry, I wasn’t quite sure where to start and where the path would lead me. I knew deep down my 9-5 job was not serving me in a positive way and if I let myself continue, I would be miserable. I took a HUGE risk but I knew in order to grow as a person and as a professional, I needed a change. Making that decision opened up new doors and opportunities, some I stayed with and some I didn’t. When I first transitioned, I started out with a combination of two paths, neither of which I am pursuing today. Not because I didn’t like them or had a negative experience, just because they weren’t serving me the way I needed. I felt like there was still something missing. When it started feeling more like something I “had” to do rather than something I was excited to pursue, I knew it was time to give up. That’s when I fully transitioned into building my own business and brand as Sweat the Stress Fitness and it’s been the best decision for me. It’s led me to places I didn’t expect, such as my passion and current niche in pre/postnatal exercise and my desire to help others eliminate chemicals & toxins from their home. I’m able to help others live a healthier life through fitness and beyond which is really exciting! As a mom to a young toddler and a newborn, running a business gets tough some days. There is A LOT to juggle and finding a healthy balance between the two worlds can be nearly impossible. So believe me, there have still been times I’ve thought about giving up but the thing that keeps me going is seeing the impact it’s made on others. It’s the random texts from clients saying how their health has changed for the better, it’s the comments from those who have read a blog post and became inspired to change, and it’s the difference made in someone’s day from helping them through a great workout. It’s not the big things that matter, it’s the people who matter. When you are truly helping and coming from a genuine place to create a business, it’s worth it to keep going. It makes the risks worth it! Yes, it’s hard and it takes work but if it excites you, helps you grow as a person, and sets your soul on fire, you have to keep going!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Jupiter, FL and absolutely love it! We’ve had quite a few visitors since living down here and we always know the good spots to take them. Of course, most of our friends/family are desperate to get to the beach so our favorite spots are the Jupiter pier, Carlin Park, and Juno Beach. There is nothing like a great beach day and these beaches never disappoint! Food is always a top priority and Jupiter has so many amazing restaurants to choose from. Our favorites are Jetty’s, Utiki, J Alexander’s, Dune Dog (BEST casual & fun little spot), Evo, Cooper’s Hawk, and Leftovers. Jetty’s and Utiki have an amazing view of the intercoastal, it’s like nothing else and our visitors are always stunned when they see it. As for where to have a good time with a great cocktail in hand, our favorites are Square Grouper and Guanabanas. The atmosphere is beachy and casual, they have live music on the weekends, and the service is always great. They are our favorite Jupiter spots to unwind and have a good time!

Lastly, some of our favorite local attractions are Loggerhead Marinelife Center, Busch Wildlife (my son’s favorite spot!), Roger Dean Stadium/downtown Abacoa, and the Juno Beach pier. There are so many fun places to visit, great restaurants, and beautiful beaches to explore in Jupiter!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this to my husband and my personal training clients. My husband has supported me through my career change and all of the opportunities that have come from it. I couldn’t have pursued any of this without his support! Instead of pointing out the risks or the negatives of something, he always highlights the good that can come from it. I very much need to hear that! I also couldn’t do this without my clients, they truly inspire me to not only become a better trainer, but a better person. They trust me to help them in their health & fitness journey and that means the world to me! They all had obstacles they’ve had to overcome in their journey and it’s amazing to see how they push through despite everything. I feel extremely lucky to have an amazing husband by my side and to be surrounded by so many incredible people!
