We had the good fortune of connecting with Lusheen Loggins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lusheen, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I view risks as opportunities to say I’ve tried everything I’ve wanted to do at least once to see if I’d like it. I am a firm believer in not knocking something until you try it. You will never know if something is a passion or hidden talent if you never tried. You can’t live your life based on others’ views and opinions on things because it may not have been for them, but it may be just right for you.
Risks have played a huge role in my life and career. I took a risk by having my daughter at 17, just graduating from high school. And that risk landed me a job as a Clinical Assistant, working in healthcare. That risk gave me the opportunity to see if Nursing would continue to be a career goal for me. And to this day I am still working to fulfill that goal. I also took a risk and invested in a lash course and four years later that risk is still a passion and my full-time business. I even took a risk joining the military. I had to leave my daughter for a few years, but that risk opened up many opportunities for our future.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am most proud that my customer service is always appreciated. I give my clients the space to be comfortable and share likes, dislikes, and even problems that arise in our service. I got to where I am by falling in love with my journey. Everything I went through working at the hospital and being in the military prepared me for this. I’ve been in the customer service role since 2013 as a lifeguard. I love meeting and engaging with people.
Was it easy to get here? No. I always share my struggles to become a lash artist, wax specialist, and CEO. I overcame these challenges by not giving up and constantly investing in ways to better myself and my craft. I’ve also learned that it is okay to lose people along the way. Whether it’s a client, friend, partner, or family. Not everyone is meant to be around for your success. There are plenty of conversations your ears haven’t heard.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting, I would take her to Fort Lauderdale beach. We would stop by the Rock Bar to eat. And then head over to do some water sports! I love the idea of having fun and relaxing by the beach. Fort Lauderdale beach also has an Escape room which is plenty of fun! In my view the beaches, restaurants, ice cream shops, and recreational parks are the best places to check out.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate my success to my parents, my daughter, my partner, and my friends. My parents have my back and support me in every decision I make. When my mother gives me a hard time about a decision I am making, she still offers me support after a while or a better understanding of my reasoning. My daughter is the reason for everything I do. Any risk I take, she is the first person I think about. I always think about how this will benefit her and my future offspring. I love to see that she admires me and wants to do some of the things I’ve done once she is older. I love to create an environment where she can see that I have action behind my words. And I won’t just be talking because it sounds good. My partner pushes me to do everything I want to do. He’s more like my best friend. Anytime I come to him about a new venture, he checks my reasoning, and how beneficial it will be for me or my business. I can be impulsive sometimes. My friends have been encouraging from day one. Some may not come and support me physically, but they are always there for me mentally and emotionally. If I am stressed and need to vent or cry, they are there. They also support me in other ways; they post my work, refer people to me, and let me know constantly how proud they are of me.
