We had the good fortune of connecting with Madison Connolly and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Madison, what do you attribute your success to?

The success of Matches by Memory can be attributed to two key factors. Firstly, the unique concept. Unlike traditional art prints of photographed matchbooks, I offer the ability to transform any memory into 3D digital art on a matchbook.

Secondly, the art stands out because of  the meticulous attention I give to each piece. Other businesses have replicated the concept, but the artistry of Matches by Memory sets it apart.

Im proud to say that organic growth has also played a crucial role in the success. I have relied solely on word-of-mouth marketing. I find receiving brand marketing emails to be bothersome so I don’t send any.
Creating a space for satisfied customers to share their positive experiences has worked out so well. I’ve built trust and credibility, leading to a loyal customer base.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally? The journey to where I am today has been challenging. No one taught me how to run a business. My passion for creating meaningful art keeps me motivated.

Running the business while creating over 700 commissioned orders since 2020 has kept me quite busy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Day 1: Arrival and Beach Day
Start the trip with a relaxing day at one of Miami’s beautiful beaches, such as South Beach or Key Biscayne. In the evening, enjoy a delicious seafood dinner at a beachfront restaurant like Joe’s Stone Crab or Rusty Pelican.

Day 2: Miami Design District and Wynwood Walls
Begin the day by exploring the Miami Design District, known for its unique architecture, high-end shopping, and art galleries. Take a leisurely stroll through the boutiques and admire the stunning art installations. Later, visit Wynwood Walls, a vibrant outdoor street art museum. Wrap up the day with dinner at a trendy restaurant like Coyo Taco or KYU in Wynwood.

Day 3: Cultural Exploration
Start the day by visiting the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) to experience contemporary and modern art. Afterwards, head to Little Havana, a vibrant neighborhood with a Cuban influence. Explore Calle Ocho, visit Domino Park, and enjoy authentic Cuban cuisine at Versailles or La Carreta. In the evening, catch a live music performance at a renowned venue like the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts or the Fillmore Miami Beach.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

I would like to give credit and recognition to my husband. During a time when I was struggling to find stable employment after graduating from design school he believed in my talent more than anyone.

His unwavering belief in me pushed me to embrace my creativity and turn it into a successful business venture. I am truly grateful for his unwavering support
