We had the good fortune of connecting with Magaly Guerra and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Magaly, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My priority has never changed and I believe that my work balance goes after having everything set up with my kids and family.. in order to be inspired and work efficiently, I need to first have my home in order and balance so that way I can have the creativity and inspiration for work.
My husband has helped me with “time management”.
I learned that I need valuable minutes with my kids in order to have balance. If I’m on the phone while “playing”
With them, I am not fully committed. But if we have eye contact, have a 5 minute conversation, or even a 10min drawing moment, that is when I most connect with them.
To sum things up, first comes family, then comes work. That my secret sauce for success.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It all started when I was 3 years old.
This was not an overnight success. Ever since I was young I loved dancing. I got the opportunity to be in a Ballet in Russia, Cuba and NYC. I lived in NY and Spain practicing different dance techniques with world known instructors.
There was a point in my life that I had so much experience and expertise, that I decided to bring teaching and creating my own method and took me to what is now a days Shake & Sculpt.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d tell her…let’s have a weekend adventure.
2 days in Monterrey so we can have the most gorgeous hike at the mountains with a beautiful city view, then have the best meat with guacamole she’s ever had.
Afterwards I’d tell her to grab a flight and we’d head to my favorite beach in Mexico- Punta Mita! I LOOOOOOVE IT THERE! It’s my paradise.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without a doubt my husband.
I was only 21 years old when he believed in me and pushed me to open my own dance studio and begin my fitness path.
Without my dance studio, I would have never ended up having one of the biggest Latin American dance fitness platforms.
