We had the good fortune of connecting with Delphine Nephtalie Dauphin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Delphine Nephtalie, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is my passion for my brand. It keeps me motivated to create new goals that will help me scale. It also reminds me of why I started. My passion for my business helps me take risks and I can easily ignore negativity because I have confidence in my future.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I know for sure that the presentation didn’t set me apart at the beginning. What set me apart was the fact that I was just 7 years old and my recipe was yummy and I had an inspirational story. I am most proud of the fact that the business birthed a book out of me. I get to where I am today because of a great group of people. There were people that were willing to mentor me, some connected me and I also did a lot of networking. I am great at networking. I understand the art of it. I know how to build a relationship with other professionals. I was just 7 years old so of course, it was not easy. You would think that people would see that cute face and just want to buy from me, no no no it was the opposite. I had a lot of hate. Some people were just mean to me. I overcome the challenges because I have a nurturing mother. She will not allow me to put my head down in front of anyone and that included her. She thought me to be strong and partially vulnerable. She taught me that I could be a child and still managed my business. I want the world to know that I created my company from scratch. I want the world to know that I manage my finances and that I am sure of the success that I want to achieve. I also want the world to know that like every other kid, I play and have fun and have lots of friends and I am a CEO. I have a well-balanced life. I want the world to know that Joy’s Yummy Cupcakes by Delphine is here to stay.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, I am only 11 so I would tell my mother to plan these things for me. A trip to Hollywood Beach, then a visit to Miami Children’s Museum, I would want them to visit La Famiglia in Miramar, I would hang out at an arcade like Dave and Busters. I would go to TY Park. I would take them to a Haitian restaurant to have some rice, sauce pois, and little legumes. I would also take them to a mixed church and a Haitian church. I would also go out for some ice cream or go to the mall for some Auntie Anne and shop a little.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, my mother is my biggest supporter. She helps build my confidence and told me that I could achieve anything and I believed her. I have many other people that circle me with love, encouragement, and assets. I don’t want to call out any names but I don’t want to forget anyone. I will say that there are a few key people that play a major role like Sonia Chess I have known her since I was 4 years and she has been a great support for me. Ernisha Randolph was one of the first person to look at me as a real business person. She listened to me and took my idea into consideration. She gave me my big public appearance, Benghie Hyacinthe is my aunt and she helps me a lot in the background and part of the administration of my business in the beginning. I am grateful for everyone that has contributed to who I am today.
