We had the good fortune of connecting with Maitland Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maitland, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
My end goal is to build the most influential fitness brand in my time. “Flexchamp” overcoming obstacles through fitness! A brand that caters to the youth that carry on throughout their whole life.
I learned fitness at a very young age. The knowledge I learned helped me through out my life. No matter what I was going through working out has helped me become a better person mentally and physically. I want to share to the world what I learned so there could be a future of flexchamps.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Flexchamp is a fitness lifestyle brand. When you think of my brand I want you to think of Nike, Live strong “lance armstrong” , or Coca Cola

What all these brands have in common is that anybody could relate to these without even being apart it. For example you might not play a sport but still wear a Nike shirt. But You wear the shirt because what it stand for.

I have a fitness brand that everybody could relate to because fitness is a lifestyle that saved my life and saved others too.
There are plenty of stories just like mine, but there’s no brand that acknowledges it. My brand does. I believe everyone has the Flexchamp in them. If I can teach the world what I learned at a young age, I believe we will have a future of flexchamps.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my friend was to come visit me. I would take them all around Florida! Definitely gotta do the pool and beach. So would probably stay on a beach front. Every morning we would get a run on the beach then a workout. Followed with a breakfast brunch place. I would show them the night life. Would have to do a roof too party.. another thing I would do is go to bush’s gardens and universal studios..

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The person who taught me everything about fitness and who I dedicated my success to is my dad.

Me and my dad had a close relationship before he went to jail when I was 5. I still remember memories as a child with him.
When he left I would talk on the phone and visit him. It started then when he introduced me to working out. I was so interested. That he would give me workouts to do from the phone. I didn’t know then but I was using fitness to overcome a obstacle in my life.

When my dad came out I was 10 years old. He was the most ripped guy I ever seen in my life and I knew from that day I wanted to be just like him.

My dad me taught me things about fitness that adults don’t even know. I became such a great athlete from what he taught me. I knew I had something special that he gave me. Years later I ended up beating cancer with working out. So I dedicate this to my dad and the one and only God.
