We had the good fortune of connecting with Majie Lavergne and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Majie, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
As an artist, what I value most is staying true to one-self. Living life from the inside out….a continuous inquire in what is true internally and sticking with it.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Currently, I am working on a new series titled, “Love Always Falls Back On Its Feet”. This Series, is a positive and hopeful response to the helplessness I sometimes feel when I fully open to the challenging times we are traversing. This Series is all about love. I have deconstructed the word love (L-O-V-E) to illustrate the challenges and chaos that can arise. Yet, as the “E” of love lands at the bottom right of each painting, with constancy and stability, it acts as a reminder that, just like the sun, love is always present and nurtures my trust that ‘love will prevail’.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would invite him to Cortes Island, located North East of Vancouver Island, Canada. It is an amazing island with pristine nature, magical lakes, old growth forests, and great community. Swimming in Hague lake is so velvety and rejuvenating. And of course, the sea is glorious!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank my father, Robert Lavergne and my Godfather, Louis Nallard for inspiring me to paint. Both of them were dedicated and passionate painters – and I can’t thank them enough for it.
