We had the good fortune of connecting with Marco Santini and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marco, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
For many years, I worked in marketing and branding, helping other companies create digital strategies and in-store rollouts. I loved the creativity behind this, but I didn’t always believe in the brands I was helping. I’d always considered myself as an artist, but didn’t know how to make a living selling my creative services. It wasn’t until I fully committed myself to the arts in 2018 that I was able to see the full potential of my talents. This was when I found my life’s purpose to spread love and positivity through art and education.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am most inspired by inclusion, positivity and language. I found my life’s purpose in 2018 to spread love and positivity as a Conscious Creator. I have expressed this through art, education, and volunteering. I speak and paint at schools around the world, teaching students to explore their passions while turning negatives into positives. Very often, I ask people a question and turn their responses into the murals I create. My style incorporates bright colors, geometric designs and words of love and positivity, often in different languages. It has been a beautiful journey trying to turn my passion into a profession. I always tell young artists the importance of finding their own voice and style, despite what others think. This creative freedom can inspire the greatest depths within each of us.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A week is too short to fully experience NYC, but you’d definitely be able to capture the flavor. Here are a few of my favorite spots:
My Art Studio – a must-visit for all art fans in Lower Manhattan that will leave you more excited and inspired than ever before.
The Battery (formerly Battery Park) – luscious walking paths through lower Manhattan with views of the Statue of Liberty, One World Trade, and the Staten Island Ferry.
One World Trade – the best (and highest) views of the city, not to mention the coolest elevator in the world (plus, there are some great surprises).
Zero Bond – members-only SOHO hot spot with great food, drinks, and atmosphere.
Central Park – get lost in nature to the point where you can even lose sight of the city (truly a miracle)
One Art Space – always serving up the freshest artists in NYC that you’ll be hearing about soon
Bloomingdale’s SOHO – find your favorite big-name brands and underground collections all on Broadway
Spyscape Museum – awesome collaboration of historical artifacts, art, and interactive challenges
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m very grateful to be surrounded by incredible friends and family. My parents have always been supportive of my creative endeavors. When I was a child, my parents wouldn’t ask me what I was doing, but rather why I was doing. This slight distinction made me think about my process and reasoning from an early age and really developed my curiosity. My wife Cheri-Ann Santini has also been very instrumental in helping me achieve my greatest dreams. I call her the Great Amplifier because she makes everyone around her better.
