We had the good fortune of connecting with Maria Alejandra Hernandez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maria Alejandra, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I feel very connected and inspired by geometrical figures and architecture in general. Lines, circles, and shapes that are hidden between the mixture of nature and urban spaces in our everyday life captivated me. During my creative process, I like to include and show these elements in my work through patterns, textures, packages, and color palettes.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Sure! Well first things first, Alibombo is a Creative + Art Studio that works with custom event stationery and package design with the goal to offer a fully personalized experience to all our customers. We sketch their dream and guide them throughout the design process to make each order come to life. It started as an entrepreneurship project back in Venezuela when I wanted to give a thoughtful yet creative gift to my soon-to-be-born goddaughter Valentina. At that moment I had in mind some party favors to give during the baby shower. I was gladly surprised at the people’s massive acceptance and it was the first time I considered it a parallel business to my profession. After a short time, I wanted to find a place that allowed me to show other qualities in my life, one that goes hand in hand with my passions and sees what other professional career challenges could offer me. Thus, I decided to leap of faith, start entrepreneurship, and opened my company: Alibombo. This initial leap of faith has been quite a journey for us, and the road has had many challenges, but it has taught me more than I could imagine about different aspects of my life. As a result of the success of Alibombo, and the increasing demands from customers, this part-time business become full-time and I decided to dedicate myself entirely to my entrepreneurship and move my company forward. Then socioeconomic difficulties arose in Venezuela and became a very arduous job to obtain the same materials we used to create our job. All these challenges push us to think outside the box and start looking for other providers and materials without compromising our products’ quality. Alibombo moved to its hometown to found a new home in the United States after a few years of making memories in Venezuela and another challenge arose but we were ready to take it. One of the factors that I believe were essentials to this growth was going out of our comfort zone and be confident that what we could offer to the world could make a difference. Since that moment, I have not stopped dreaming, and with the support of my family, I have developed this company, which I love, and it fills me with the satisfaction of seeing all my clients’ happy smiles.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The thing that I love about Miami is that we cannot get bore here. They are hundreds of activities to do, places to go, and most of the people have at least one friend living here so usually it is a very attractive destination. When my friends come here the first plan is always to go to the beach and as a dog mom, my favorite beach is Sombrero Beach in the Keys because it has multiple outdoor facilities and it’s dog and family-friendly. I also enjoy going to Hollywood Beach because it is near to the farmer’s market where you can get the best Venezuelan Empanadas ever, Parguito Gourmet. To have dessert I recommend Via Veneto in Doral and to eat Tap 52, Narita Miami Foodtruck in Doral, and Fratelli La Bufala in Miami Beach, and sadly Trattoria Di Piu in Doral, our favorite Italian restaurant closed due to the pandemic.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am very grateful to count on a very supporting group: my husband, my family, and of course my beloved dog. They are my everyday everlasting cheer squad and they are a huge part of my career. My friends from my home country and the ones that I had met during this journey have helped us to grow and spread the word about our commitment as a company. We found a lot of support from Mom bloggers, Event planners, and entertainment personalities.
