We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joshua, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
You know wether to keep going or giving up by the feeling you get every time you think about what you’re striving for. When working towards something there’s going to be obstacles and adversities that come along the way, but it’s that passion inside that ignites every time you consider giving up, but you know you won’t feel satisfied until you get it done. If you get that feeling about whatever you’re working towards, that’s how you know, keep going.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Many people find one thing and stick to it, they don’t even take the time to unlock the rest of what lies inside of them, for myself it’s different. I put myself in the mindset that I’m already a mogul, I can have everything I want through multiple avenues, I don’t have to be just one thing. Even though my music and singing will always be my first love, I have a growing hookah business called Hookah Papi. What started as just a hobby for became something that I really enjoyed doing, especially amongst friends. I eventually became know as the friend with the hookah, I was elated that there was something I could do to contribute to bringing people together to have a good time and great vibes, so I figured, why not turn this into a bag. Although it’s still a growing business, I’m proud of how far it has come, it wasn’t easy starting a business with little knowledge of everything that was needed to get to this point, but I did the research and got it done despite every setback or delay. The biggest thing I learned from doing this is TAKE YOUR TIME! Do not be in a rush to get something out there, you can set a timeline and a goal for when you want it started, but don’t rush the process, trust it. What I want the world to know about my brand and my story is that everything I do, I do it to give someone something they can relate to, something that helps them escape when need be, relax when things are hectic, or a good time when they just want to have fun. I’m here to cater to the life experience!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my Bestfriend was coming to visit me, the one thing I know how to do is be an awesome host, before I even take you to have a good time anywhere else, you’re going to have a good time your first night in my home to break the ice. wether it be five of is or 10, it’ll be a blast with good music, food and drinks, and let’s not forget Hookah Papi will be present! Although I’m a Florida boy at heart, (shoutout to Orlando!) Atlanta is where I reside, and in this city, the possibilities are endless! We’d hit Cirque for all you can drink daiquiris on Tuesday, CRU lounge always has the ultimate vibe! For a little taste of back home we’ll hit up Fat Tuesday at some point, there’s the High Museum of Art, the Trap Museum , Centennial Park or Piedmont for the good sunlight. Brunch is big here especially on a Sunday, Sundays in ATL is like a weekly holiday, brunches everywhere! We may go to Breakfast at Barney’s, OAK, Suite Food Lounge, Fin & Feathers, the options are everywhere.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout every single person that has supported me along my journey to success, wether it be by showing up, sharing a post, purchasing a product, a donation, even the mini pep talks to keep me going, I love and appreciate them all.
