We had the good fortune of connecting with Mariah Welch and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mariah, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
My end goal is to become a professional camera operator. By the end of the career, the aspiration is not only to be a successful camera operator but also to be a social media influencer. Alongside this, the ambition is to run multiple businesses, one of which includes opening a photography store.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The journey to where I am today professionally was not an easy one. I moved across the country to Los Angeles by myself and faced plenty of challenges along the way. There were times when I felt lost and confused, but I always kept my head up and kept moving forward. I constantly prayed and was blessed to have an amazing support team. I have people in my life, including family and friends, who showed me the way and offered help when I needed it. The life lessons I’ve learned along the way have been invaluable to my growth and resilience. Throughout my journey, I’ve learned numerous invaluable lessons. I learned about the importance of patience in the face of adversity and gained knowledge and wisdom that have shaped me into the person I am today. I’ve also learned how to strategize effectively in business and how to navigate and overcome unexpected situations.

Creating my brand wasn’t easy, but all the tough times were worth it in the end. The key, I’ve found, is to keep going no matter what. I am a young woman with big aspirations—to become a successful camera operator and run multiple businesses. I want the world to know about my determination, resilience, and unwavering commitment to my dreams.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting Los Angeles for a week, I would make sure to show them the best of the area. Our itinerary would be filled with a blend of gastronomic delights, outdoor adventures, and iconic tourist spots.

We’d start our week with breakfast at The Griddle Cafe, known for its massive, tasty pancakes. For lunch, we’d visit Grand Central Market to try a variety of cuisines from local vendors. Throughout the week, we’d continue to explore popular restaurants, tasting a variety of cuisines and local specialties.

For a dose of nature and adventure, we’d head to Malibu to tackle some of the hiking trails. Not only would this offer a great workout, but it would also provide stunning views to serve as the perfect backdrop for our photos. Of course, a trip to Malibu wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the beach, so we’d make sure to spend a relaxing day soaking up the sun and surf.

We’d also allocate a day for shopping, visiting the best retail spots in the area. For a fun-filled day, we’d head to West Hollywood, Disneyland, and Universal Studios, immersing ourselves in the vibrant entertainment scene.

To add a dose of culture to our trip, we’d visit some of the local museums, enriching ourselves with the area’s history and art. For an adrenaline rush, we’d spend a day at Six Flags, riding the roller coasters and trying out the various attractions.

In my view, these places represent some of the most fun, interesting, and exciting people, places, and things to check out in this area. This itinerary would ensure that my best friend would have the best time ever during their visit.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe a significant part of my success to the unwavering support and guidance of my mother. Her steadfast belief in my abilities and her constant encouragement have been instrumental in my journey. She has consistently been a source of strength and wisdom, helping me navigate my career and personal life with resilience and independence. Her proactive involvement and advice have shaped my decision-making abilities. My siblings and father also deserve recognition for their collaborative support. Collectively, they form the backbone of my support system, with each member playing a crucial role in my personal and professional growth.
