We had the good fortune of connecting with Tony Beugen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tony, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind Palm Beach Companion Care success is our Case Manager is hands on in his lightning fast text, email or phone call response time. We have a small family owned In-Home Companion Care Agency. This business model allows us to give immediate service to our clients, their children and or family members. By being extra attentive, we have our finger on the pulse of each client and their personal needs. In Senior Care, Elderly Clients condition(s) can change at a moments notice. If your too big as an agency, you cannot pivot quickly enough and give the clients the immediate attention they need. At Palm Beach Companion Care the clients and their families greatly benefit from this immediate reactive and proactive ability we have to help you and your loved ones immediately.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career started early in 1985 in Minnesota where I am originally from. I was in my 3rd year of college at the University of Minnesota. My Father had my 2 brothers and Sister living with him and he was told he was dying from Colon Cancer and he had 6 months to 5 years to live. (He survived and is alive and afflicted with Alzheimer’s Disease in his 80’s) He asked me to quit college and go to work to help support the family. It was a no brainer risk I had to take. This was an enormous challenge since I had no money, no work experience outside of Target of other entry level jobs. I started a Muffler and tailpipe Wholesale Distribution business with my Dads help and advice and this helped our family survive and thrive. After 4 years, I choose to go into Insurance and Investments which I did for 27 years in Minnesota and Florida. The early challenges posed by my lack of business experience and overall knowledge helped me learn and grow from my mistakes along the way. We cannot really learn without making errors and growing as a person and a business person in your chosen field of expertise. No matter how broke I was, or beaten down I felt from time to time, I never ever quit. I was raised by a Military Father who was tough as nails and strict with his kids. This upbringing gave me the strength to go on, climb mountains and tough obstacles that came along my way in life. My Brand at Palm Beach Companion Care is really a survival story of a young Minnesota man who had to grow up very quickly even when I was not ready to do so emotionally or mentally at age 22. This inner strength is my True North helping Senior Citizens in the toughest moments of their lives as they feel their independence and their lives slowly slipping away from them. Integrity, Empathy, Compassion, Love and Dedication is the only way I know how to operate my business. At Palm Beach Companion Care, our Caregivers and our Clients and their families are our Family too. “We Care about You.”

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spots in Florida would first take us South down to the Florida Keys stopping in Islamorada for some Deep Sea Fishing. After we have our catch limit, we would get them fileted so we can eat them fresh. After a few nights in Key Largo eating at the Fish House, Marathon Key and Islamorada, we are onto to Key West to see the beautiful Sunset like the sun is falling off the Earth. On our way back North, its Iconic South Beach and Joes Stonecrabs for an epic feast. An evening of clubbing and site seeing on Lincoln Road, we are headed to Fontainebleau Hotel for a evening to remember at this iconic hotel. Wake up and head to Sunny Isles for a casual beach day, surfs up! Dinner that evening at my favorite restaurant in North Miami, The Thai House II. crashing this evening at Acqualina a luxury beach resort and spa. Its massage time! Driving up the East coast stopping at Jupiter Inlet for some boating on the ocean, ending up crashing in Vero Beach for the evening. In the morning we head up to Daytona Beach to see the Speedway and the crazy huge beach they have there. Dining seaside that evening after a long day in Daytona Beach. Its Zig zag time as we head to the West Coast and Clearwater Beach, Sarasota Beach, down to Naples and Ft Myers Beach for a fabulous West Coast relaxing pace. Its much slower, wide open green spaces and crazy soft White Sand Beaches. Now that your suntan is rocking we end the week by relaxing back home at Ft Lauderdale/Hollywood Beaches. Our last night is to dine and party at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood Florida, bottoms up!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Shoutout is a different pathway. What led me into the Senior Care Industry was the overall apathy in the Senior Care In-Home Companion Care industry. My Father a Veteran was in the beginning of the vice grip Alzheimer’s Disease had on him once he finally retired. Within 6 months of his retirement, he suddenly had many symptoms plaguing him. Our family was at a loss, what to do and how to do it? We started with In-Home Senior Care. The general overall attitude of the Caregivers was sloppy, negative, not doing the industry any favors reputation wise. This disgust I was feeling led me to try to make a REAL difference in the lives of the Senior Clients I would work with in the future. In 2013, I opened Palm Beach Companion Care in Broward, Dade and Palm Beach County. We do make a real positive difference in the lives of the families and Senior Citizens we work with every day. Our goal is to try to help our clients remain in their own family home, independently for as long as possible before they need a higher level of care. My Shoutout goes to The Apathy and lack of proper immediate attention Senior Citizens were getting before they met us at Palm Beach Companion Care as my motivator to enter this business space in 2013 &”We Care about You.”
