We had the good fortune of connecting with Mariana Monteagudo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mariana, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
My work process is all about connecting with everything around me, I want to show people that curiosity is all you need to make something impactful. Exercise observation and you will discover wonder…
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve been an artist since childhood, doing art comes naturally, we had a very creative home; always drawing, painting, sculpting, it was part of our daily life, I guess I’ve never thought twice about becoming a professional artist. My journey as an artist required patience, hard work and a clear vision throughout the years. If you want to make a difference is important to be true to your own voice, the hard part is to get back on track with every distraction or criticism.
The documentary “uncanny, the dolls of Mariana Monteagudo” by the filmmaker Elaine Minionis won an EMMY award (currently on PBS) , a project that begun around 2016., is for me the highest pride of my career. It was an incredible opportunity to show people my vision about art, environment, motherhood, work-life balance, and immigration.
