We had the good fortune of connecting with Marit and David Tuisk and Lepp and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marit and David, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The process started with feeling the spiritual void within ourselves and that sparked the concept of Casa Rituals, the balance of the human body through alternative healing techniques, such as ceremonial cacao and sound healing, and bringing inspiring conversation and intention to the modern-day person on how to improve their wellbeing and mental health.
In 2019, David and I both remember sitting on top of the Tepozteco pyramid in Mexico and felt strongly that our mission on earth is much bigger than what we have ever tapped into and it gave us a kind of sense of the beginning of a journey. During that time, we had realized after working decades for corporate companies how easy it is to lose connection to our inner self.
What’s one thing about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
One important thing is that a big part of the holistic business is unregulated by law, you have to always be careful and cautious with who you collaborate and make your decisions based on research and intuition.
Risk taking: how do you think about risk, what role has taking risks played in your life/career?
For us risk is rather a chance for opportunity. We try to not take actions from a fear-abased mindset but rather from a focused and centered mindset, grounding us in our decisions. Because in the end of the day the biggest risk is not taking one.
Other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Our decision to not work as a silo but rather create collaborations with partners to create a sense of a globe community that still feels close knit. Our partners are globe visionaries and support holistic approaches to human mind & body as well as healing. For example, like IIN (Integrative Nutrition), Tammy Fender, and Four Seasons.
What is the most important factor behind your success / the success of your brand?
Our success comes from our team work and the way we balance our strengths/ weakness with one another. “Casa” represents masculine energy/elements, and “Rituals” the feminine energy/elements…merging our skills and energies beautifully. We definitely bring yin yang energies into our ceremonies but also into our everyday life.
What’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
– I think David has a great answer to this question.
– I always see the struggle as the greatest teacher for us. The greater the struggle the greater the possibility of growth. Here is one valuable lesson that my life thought me when I was going through depression in my late 30s. Some of my friends said it is your midlife crisis just hang on. For me, it felt like I am losing my reality. The value of that desperate situation to struggle with your own mind and body thought me how powerful and strong we all are. I noticed that if you are depressed it is impossible to be grateful at the same time. Also when you mind experiencing anxiety attacks or emotional turmoil you are not logical at all, you cannot do even simple mathematics because you missing the focus.
– For me, the game changer happened to be opening to sound healing with my heart, bring a more holistic approach to life. Our mind and body are miraculous instruments and if we just pay little attention to them, we can create the reality we would enjoy living in.
Work life balance: how has your balance changed over time? How do you think about the balance?
– Even though it is a spiritual business we still live in a material world, you still need to honor a business as such. Now more than ever, our business is our passion and sometimes we lose track of the hours and the balance can fall away. We regain our balance from mediation and travel. We want to be filled with contempt, love, and inspiration because our business is a reflection of us.
Do you have a favorite quote or affirmation? What does it mean to you / what do you like about it?
– There is a quote by Rumi, “yesterday I was cleaver and tried to change the world, today I am wise and I am changing myself.”
– The only change we are responsible for 100% is the one inside of us, most of the time we don’t have control over the changes outside of our body and once we change our inner thought patters we’ll see that reflected in our relationships and everyday life. It is ultimately the fastest way to change the world.
Why did you pursue an artistic or creative career?
– Because we all creators and we feel that creative and artistic expression is action taken by the soul. It allows us to expand the limits and think outside of the box, something that makes us feel empowered with all our decision making. You have to get in your heart to get into the hearts of others.
What do you want your legacy to be? What do you want people to remember about you?
– We are working to create a safe and scared space where people feel comfortable to show up as they are and leave knowing they are seen and their inner power has been activated as they feel more balanced, whole and open hearted. Bringing this energy into their communities and lives with those that they interact with after our events. It’s not about us or our idea it is about the individual transformation.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In the past decade, I noticed more than ever the growing need for sound therapy in the alternative health market. As a solution, Marit and I developed the concept of Casa Ritual, the balance of the human body through alternative healing techniques and spiritual practice for a modern-day person.
And that’s when we started to talk with David about doing business together and merging our expertise. In a crazy way, when the pandemic hit, it gave us time to dive deep into shadow work and fine-tune our spiritual practices by having more time for alternative healing modalities, reiki, sound healing, and ceremony facilitation. During that same time, I also healed my auto-immune disease.
