We had the good fortune of connecting with Marky Ehrhart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marky, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Transparency. What it means to me, you or anyone else is the same: the quality of being open to public scrutiny. This is truly a value I follow to the core. I never want a client, a friend or a anyone who talks to me think I am speaking from a place of shadiness or disrespect. When I speak, I always come from a place of truth and respect. My clients know the ins and outs of my conversations throughout the entire transaction. I allow them to understand the process even though they hired me for a reason, never should I want them to feel double crossed or left in the dark. This then allows my other values to shine through: dedication, hard-work and loyalty. Through transparency, all things can be seen.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In real estate agents are a dime a dozen. Your neighbor, friend, sister, even your partner could have a license and you might not know. But, what sets me apart from them is I have dedicated it to being my full time career. I do not take time for another job at any time, I rely solely on what I produce in real estate. This means my clients are my top priority. This is a challenge and doesn’t exactly make it an easy job per say, so taking that leap to do this was scary. I don’t mean for that to come out sounding bad, but imagine a world that you do not clock in ad clock out to collect a paycheck. The hours you choose and the dedication you put in to this career is what you get out of it. It stops when stop and it excels when you keep going. That was and possibly still is my biggest challenge I battle with, but by continuously focusing on my mindset through meditation and self reflection I am able to remember why I am doing. I’m doing it for those first time home buyers who are making a leap into one of the largest investments you can have, the older couple who has lived in the same house for 45 years and has no idea the equity they have built in their home. I am here to move people home, educate them and make them feel comfortable every step of the way. My time, my dedication and transparency to my clients is what I pride myself on and it reflects through that I continue to have friendships with them after they move home.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A weekend in South Florida for me would start with a morning walk along the beach with a fresh latte from Ann’s Coffee Bar and maybe a sunrise yoga session on the beach. Then whats not better to do then brunch! My go to brunch spot Batch because it is a southern style kitchen, which serves some redesigned southern dishes that are to die for… and bottomless mimosas. Not spot to go with my pup is Barkyard n’ Brew, a fu place to grab a seltzer or beer while the the dogs run around hang out and I get to network with the other dog parents. Let’s head home and grab a nap so when the night life starts we ca head to Las Olas to grab some dinner and bar hop in Downtown Fort Lauderdale: Moxies, El Camino, Salt 7… a whole strip of fun restaurants and bars!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To be completely transparent, this journey was not built in my own mind. I was at my previous job, in the service industry, working and my now current business partner was my customer. I saw her each and every day and always made sure her order was perfect as that was something I prided myself on for all of my customers. I wanted to create an atmosphere that was warm, fun but also represented well. One day, she looked at me and expressed how pleasurable I always am and how well my customer service was and handed my her business card, following with an invitation to interview for her. From that moment I stepped outside of my box, I sat down with her and joined her brokerage and team as an employee. In that time she mentored me and showed me how all of my traits I already have are what it takes to be a great entrepreneur, I just needed the confidence and the push to do it. Lourdes Maestres helped me through my process of starting my own business and still continues to be my mentor ad coach under the MPH Team at Compass.
