We had the good fortune of connecting with Marquita Livingston and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marquita, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My business impacts the world by healing oneself and others, one writing at a time. By putting words on paper (“letting it all out,” I like to say), you can reflect on the things that make you happy and hurt you the most. Writing can relieve stress and anxiety and even save you from an expensive bill at the therapist’s office (LOL). Now, we are not encouraging anyone not to get the help they need, just adding another tool to help us all grow, and it doesn’t stop there!

Through Samiramarquita clothing, we strive to help you look fly and feel good about representing a community helping one another. Of all ages, all around the world. By seeing their truth through their eyes.

Then we have Sensations by Samiramarquita, our natural skincare line of everyday essentials. Sensations will provide all-natural, homemade products for everyone, every age, on any budget! Why should you pay an arm and a leg for your family to have beautiful, healthy skin?

Last but not least, we have Sacred Chapters. Our brand’s core!

Sacred Chapters is much more than a blog. It’s the heart of why I wanted to start my brand. Just launching, I want Sacred Chapter’s to be a safe place for all to express their inner thoughts, experiences, knowledge, pain, and strengths. Whatever makes you tick as a person. And from others and I sharing (through different forms of writing), we can heal someone else.

On this blog, we will have fun, cry, laugh, and even dance, but most of all, be a family that most don’t have.

And although The Samiramarquita brand will be tapping into those uncomfortable feelings, we are not just going to leave you there.

Put the kids to bed, take a hot bath, rub down with Sensations by Samiramarquita and curl up with bae. Grab a great bottle of wine and read “There Lies the Truth” book (coming out on June 23, 2022), where you both would be taken to heights unimaginable!

In conclusion, Samiramarquita is not just your average brand. It’s all OUR brand! It’s OUR voice! It’s what makes us Who We Are! Allowing writing to heal our hearts, connect with our youth and be who we all were called to be!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am most excited about my book, “There Lies the Truth” (coming June 23, 2022) because it was something I wanted to do all my life. I always wanted to be an author. To walk in the book stores and see my name on a cover of a top selling book.

This book was challenging in so many ways. The internet and social media was helpful with learning the ins and outs about being an author. But it was not easy financially, or finding the right team of people for things like editing. A major concern for me was how people would receive it. Would they like it? But eventually I just had to jump out there and just go for it. So I did.

Everything that I went through to complete this first book, challenged me as a person, as a writer, heck even my vocabulary skills (lol). But the end results are something I am very proud of. This is a feeling I want for all writers! For all people! To accomplish their goals and dreams. That’s what the Samiramarquita brand strives to do. Be a community that can help writers succeed, mentally, spiritually, emotionally and physically.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in one of the best cities in the US! When visiting the DMV area you have got to hit all three states (DC, Maryland and Virginia). So much for the whole family to do any time of the year!

Now of course my friend wouldn’t stay anywhere but the best, and that would be the Gaylord hotel at the National Harbor in Oxon Hill, MD. Where they would be close to shops, restaurants, concerts and so much more!

Within our first few days we would visit downtown DC, to tour our nation’s monuments. Maybe drop in to see how our money is made, or visit the black history museum for a history lesson.

Catch up on a festival, or catch a ferry to Virginia for some of the best ice cream in town! Kelwins ice cream will make you close your eyes with every lick.

For some down time, we would walk around Tangler Oulets to do some shopping at stores like Nike and H&M. Or grab a cute purse from Michael Kors. But if they really want to do some shopping we have a few malls to hit up too! Pentagon City, or Tyson’s Corner malls always satisfies my shopping cravings.

Can’t let too many days go by before eating at Thai Pavilion, at the National Harbor! That places is love on a plate! Their Kung Po shrimp is to die for! And the atmosphere is beautiful!

On the last day, our best day, Maryland Crabs! Hands down, the love of any seafooder life! We have the best in the country!! We would sit by the water at Mike’s seafood and eat until our hearts are happy.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my husband (Y__yola)!!! He plays a major role in the woman that I am becoming because he allows me to just be me! He gave me a space where I could be safe releasing my pains. He would cry with me, make me laugh and push me to reach any goal that came to mind!

And trust me, many many ideas do! But he is always right there with me. Riding by my side! Whether I succeed or fail. It’s a no-judgment zone!

My husband having so much patience, kindness and love for me what helps me do all that I do. From starting my businesses, to being the best mom and person I could be.
With him, the Sky is the Limit! And he will fly right with me, scared of heights and all!
