We had the good fortune of connecting with Marte Siebenhar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marte, what are you inspired by?
Bold go-getters always spark my imagination. There’s nothing like a person with an audacious vision, big heart, and total commitment to realizing that vision. To imagine the world can be a better, healthier, more connected, more caring place is one thing. It’s another to put yourself out there and press on in the face of the unknown. That’s what a visionary does, and it’s incredibly inspiring.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My coaching, facilitation, and consulting work collides my background as a performing artist and business strategist, and my deep interest in helping people thrive. In practice, this involves combining right-brain artistic creativity and left-brain business strategy to position people for success on purpose. I founded Cultured Innovations, a boutique consulting and coaching firm, as a side hustle in 2011. I took the leap, going full-time with the firm in 2019.
As an artist, nonprofit executive, strategic planner, and entrepreneur, I know firsthand what it’s like to operate in a high-stakes world full of disruption. I believe creativity is the pathway to sustainability. That’s why I use Practical Creativity—a process of listening, imagination, ingenuity, intuition, and play—to solve challenges and inform decisions involving uncertainty, ambiguity, and risk. I work at the intersection of value and values, as a thought partner with clients. I help them translate the vision in their minds into action. When there isn’t a playbook, Practical Creativity unlocks innovative solutions and results that help leaders and creatives move boldly forward.
I’m so proud that Cultured Innovations supports the creatives, social impact makers, and entrepreneurs who make our world more connected, compassionate, and creative. Our firm invests in the leaders and companies in these spaces, and we get results! We are thrilled to have the absolute best clients in the world, and are proud that, even despite the challenges of unknowns like COVID-19, our clients have come out even more successful and stronger than ever before.
In 2020, we served 20 nonprofit organizations, 21 leaders and small business owners, and 12 artists. As a result of 270 hours of coaching and direct services, our nonprofit clients raised $1,314,213. Already by the end of Q2 in 2021, we’ve already surpassed last year’s results by 12%. We are thrilled and honored to partner with these local and national leaders—passionate visionaries who keep the community engaged and inspired—and we love being part of generating abundance and success for them, and also celebrating their amazing results.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are so many amazing spots around Miami. I love hidden gems like the back room at Bodega and the rooftop at the Citadel, where there’s often live music on Wednesday evenings. To get your creative juices flowing, must-visits are the deck at the Standard for a yacht-watching, people-watching happy hour, check out a New World Symphony WALLCAST concert or a performance by Nu Deco Ensemble, take in the latest exhibition at the PAMM, join the live storytelling throwdown at the MOTH Miami, and go get inspired at the Rubell Museum (don’t miss the world class restaurant).
I also love taking out-of-towners to unexpected, totally-Florida, magic places that are as close as an hour away, like Homestead: don’t miss the key lime milkshake at Robert is Here, get there early to snag homemade cinnamon rolls at Knaus Berry Farm, work off the treats hiking the Anhinga and Gumbo Limbo Trails at Everglades National Park, then stop by the Coral Castle or Wat Buddharangsi Buddhist Temple. Cap off the day by bringing home some tropical beauty from RF Orchids.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I proudly recognize and deeply appreciate the many generous teachers, mentors, guides, friends, and family members who have massively supported my journey and helped me become who I am today. I’m thankful to be where I am and working with the absolute best, most visionary clients in the world. I proudly shout-out Chad Bernstein and Jono De Leon from Guitars Over Guns. They were absolutely all-in when I went full time with my own firm, and it’s been an amazing ride to support their incredible work!
