Meet Martin-Peter Moses | Car Enthusiast & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Martin-Peter Moses and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Martin-Peter, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started the initial idea of ModzCity back in 2016 with only an IG account, setup primarily to share my passion for cars and anything automotive. Fast forward to 2023 and I decided, I wanted more, I wanted to inspire the next generation of car lovers, exactly as I was inspired by so many others. This led to the start of a Youtube channel focused on car stories, restorations and informative content for all car enthusiasts. Shortly after I wanted to have a brand that represented how I feel about my car passion and have it on display through our line of merchandise – t-shirts, caps, hoodies, and a variety of car related items. Launched modzcity.com in November of 2023 and never looked back. I enjoy interacting with clients especially since we share something vital in common – our love and appreciation for cars. I wanted to allow my fellow enthusiasts to display their car passion through our merch. We aspire to inspire! So far this business venture has led me to deals, partnerships and other areas that I would never have considered before. Truly opening my eyes, my creative side so to speak and my business sense. If I had one piece of advice for anyone, it would be, just start! Go do it and take that first step, as scary as it sounds, but that was by far the hardest part to date.

What should our readers know about your business?
ModzCity was born from a passion for cars and also a true passion to share that knowledge in the hope of inspiring many others to get that dream project car or start their own business. This has always been the aim for ModzCity from day one – inspiration. For that very reason, I am proud to be the owner of ModzCity and its associated social channels. Though the business side of ModzCity is very young and in the early stages, it was by no means easy to get off the ground. Learning new skill sets, such as website design, negotiations with partners, and overall management. So while not an easy task, it has been worthwhile, especially when you see your hard work paying off by actually getting your first sale, or having your first video on Youtube do well with a fair amount of views and subscribers. Overcoming challenges and being solution oriented is the name of the game when starting a business. You have to be persistent and resilient in all aspects of your business. Don’t give up at the first sign of trouble or a slow period.

Many lessons have been learnt along the way. Figuring out your market strategy, who you should hire as a freelancer, creating relative content and being consistent. All challenges that need to be overcome, but you won’t know how to handle them unless you try.

If I could choose one thing I would want the world to know about ModzCity, it’s that your passion can lead you to places you never envisioned. I think about Youtuber Matt Armstrong, who started making videos in his drive way repairing his girlfriend’s car and now following his passion with a multitude of cars and car merch. Inspiring millions of people in the process. That is the level of impact I would want to be known for, helping and inspiring people who have a similar passion.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being a car enthusiast, of course one of those days would be spent on a track racing cars. I would have to recommend something like that for sure. Catching a sports game, maybe basketball or soccer. Going for some lovely cultural food would also need to be on the list of things, plus going to a beach or a waterpark to relax.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
100% my wife, Lisa, who has been there from the very start, in fact, even before the start. She has truly helped me to keep going and to push through even when I wondered if this made sense anymore.

My family and friends have always supported me, my brothers who are also entrepreneurs, and my parents. There support means the world to me.

Every other car enthusiast or race car driver that has inspired me to get involved with cars. From an early age I was able to be around cars because of my father and neighbors in the community I grew up. If it wasn’t for those experiences as a child I would never have gotten into cars.
