Hi Martina, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was deeply rooted in my passion for jewelry and my extensive background in the fashion industry. After more than sixteen years working in the field, I felt the urge to merge my expertise and love for design into something personal and meaningful. I realized that I could offer a fresh perspective on classic jewelry designs by reimagining them with modern concepts, blending timeless luxury with contemporary elements.

The turning point for me came when I pursued my Foundation in Diamonds with De Beers, which reinforced my admiration for the intricacies of fine jewelry. I also honed my skills with a Bachelor’s in Fashion Design and Management, a Master’s in Contemporary Art, and a specialization in Jewelry Design, all of which helped me build a strong foundation in both the creative and business sides of jewelry-making.

As I continued to work in the jewelry world, I developed a particular love for bridal jewelry, recognizing the significance of creating pieces that symbolize important moments in people’s lives, like weddings. I wanted to create something that truly resonated with the bride’s personal style and the significance of the occasion, with a focus on uniqueness, quality, and elegance.

For me, starting my own business was the next natural step in bringing my vision to life—creating pieces that tell a story and elevate the personal style of those who wear them. It was about more than just jewelry; it was about crafting something meaningful and unforgettable.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Getting to where I am today with Martina Gurgel Jewelry has certainly not been easy, but it’s been a rewarding journey. Building a luxury bridal jewelry brand from the ground up takes a lot of hard work, determination, and resilience. Every step has been a learning process — but I’ve added all my previous experiences and always believed in the importance of persistence.
Recognition comes with time, recently we were invited to participate at New York Fashion Bridal Week, exhibiting our latest collection and it was truly a special highlight of staying in the path you love and success will come.

Martina Gurgel Jewelry was born out of my fine jewelry experience with bridal and a desire to create something meaningful, a brand that could connect with brides on a personal level. Our vision is to craft intricate, elegant pieces that celebrate love, femininity, and the beauty of each bride. We want every piece to reflect not just the classic beauty of bridal jewelry, but also a modern twist that makes each item unique. The goal is for our pieces to become cherished heirlooms, symbols of love and personal expression that will last for generations.

Along the way, I’ve learned that success doesn’t come overnight. It’s about staying true to your vision. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is to never give up. Even on challenging days, persistence is key. It’s essential to stay focused on your goals and continue moving forward.

In terms of the brand, what I want the world to know is that Martina Gurgel Jewelry is more than just a collection of beautiful pieces. It’s a brand rooted in creating meaningful connections. It is dedicated to enhancing timeless beauty, not only by prioritizing quality but by offering a personalized experience that truly celebrates each bride’s unique story. Our mission is to design pieces that aren’t just worn on the wedding day but become an integral part of the bride’s journey—something they’ll treasure forever.

Absolutely, there are so many people who deserve credit for helping me get to where I am today. I want to recognize my teachers, who have been incredibly inspiring throughout my academic journey.
My family and friends have been my backbone throughout this entire journey. Their unwavering support and belief in me have been a source of strength.
And last but certainly not least, my husband deserves a special shoutout. He’s been my biggest cheerleader. His support has been essential in helping me maintain my focus and passion as I built this business.
