We had the good fortune of connecting with Mary, Kayla and Melissa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mary, Kayla and Melissa, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
We have always dabbled in upcycling furniture for our own homes and at one point about 3-4 years ago, 2 of us, Kayla and Mary, began selling our pieces on OfferUp. We love repurposing a good quality vintage piece of furniture because not only is it better for our environment and less wasteful but we’re able to enjoy a one of a kind item vs. purchasing a mass produced item at a store in which many other people will have the same piece. Our business was a two-fold idea, not only do we get to work and sell our upcycled furniture but we’re also giving local crafters, artists and makers the ability to sell their products at a brick and mortar by consigning with us.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

We consider our art to be our furniture upcycling and staging at the store. We are able to showcase items in a way in which the customer is able to see the vision of how the complete set up would look in their home and they are able to purchase everything together such as an entry table with decor and a matching mirror. Although our work makes us extremely happy, being new in retail is a very big learning curve for us. We would love our brand to be known for its ability to add some warmth to a home.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are many amazing food spots in Coral Springs. We would definitely begin with a nice brunch at Tap 42 and probably head down to Pompano Beach for some sun.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would love to thank our families for helping us every step of the way and picking up the slack since we worked tirelessly to create and open our little dream home decor boutique.
