Meet Megan Levy | Children’s Book Author, Founder, & Brand Marketer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Levy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Megan, is there something you believe many others might not?
I used to push myself in everything before becoming a Mom, but I now disagree with the advice to “push through pain.” I feel it’s incredibly important to pause, to rest, and to listen to yourself and what your body & mind are saying. Rest can be the most difficult concept for us to admit we need, and I now realize that admitting it is a strength and not a weakness.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The @unmaskedmotherhood community is for any parent or caretaker of today whose looking for real and inspirational content designed specifically for them. We feature stories, recommendations & a dash of pandemic parenting advice.
Creating We Shell Flip is what I’m most proud of. Being pregnant during the pandemic was difficult and I felt inspired to create something for future generations that helped them express themselves when they felt stuck. The book does exactly that through the story of a fictional horseshoe crab named Helen.
“Megan Lynn Levy’s We Shell Flip is an uplifting tale that invites readers to remember what has helped them through challenging situations in the past while encouraging a positive attitude in dealing with trying times. For Helen the horseshoe crab, writing has always been a source of comfort and it is the way that she seeks help when she is stuck after being flipped over by a strong gust of wind. We Shell Flip also shows the importance of family and loved ones and the support they can offer during difficult circumstances. The calming and peaceful illustrations throughout this book convey a tranquil day at the beach. We Shell Flip: A Special Tale for Children and Caretakers will be a valuable contribution to any child’s library.” —Readers Favorite
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely! I founded the @unmaskedmotherhood community in 2020 to highlight stories worth-staring and to connect caretakers of today.
Since launching, I’ve featured stories of over 40 entrepreneurs, educators, and all-around inspiring stories.
I also wrote and independently published my children’s picture book, We Shell Flip, for parents and children to discuss feeling stuck. I hired an incredible illustrator, Tara Victoria, and her ability to translate my manuscript is something I’ll forever be grateful for!
