Meet Megan Ramos | Wedding and Event Planner and Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Ramos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Megan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For me, starting my own business was sort of a no-brainer because I grew up in a household with two entrepreneurs, so that mindset was always around me. I just didn’t know what the business would be. At first, I thought it might be wedding florals, but after a chance meeting with a well-known wedding planner in 2022, everything shifted. What started as a floral business organically transitioned into full-scale wedding and event design and planning. Ramos Events was officially born in 2023 after I pivoted the primary focus of the business to planning.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My “art” is more than just people. It’s logistics. It’s a whole lot of spreadsheets, a whole lot of heart, and knowing how to balance the two without losing my mind or my sense of humor.
When I decided to shift my business from just offering florals to offering planning and design as well, I knew it was going to be more than a name change. I wanted our clients to have more than just your average weddings and to create celebrations that actually feel like the clients. What sets Ramos Events apart is that while we’re rooted in tradition, we aren’t stuck in it. You could call it Traditional with a Twist! I really get to know the clients so I can make sure there are no cookie-cutter timelines; no generic decor; and no forcing the guests to sit through awkward traditions. I bring intentionality to every event with elevated touches and guest experiences that feel effortless (even though we’ve planned them down to the minute).
I’m most proud of the fact that I built this business from the ground up after a major career pivot. I spent over 20 years in the legal world as a paralegal, and while I was good at it, I always knew I was meant to build something of my own. Was it easy? Absolutely not. It was a lot of long nights, quiet doubt, and learning to trust myself when I felt like I was building a plane mid-flight.
If there’s one thing I want people to know about me and Ramos Events, it’s this: We’re in the business of making sure your wedding isn’t just beautiful, but meaningful. We serve a wide range of couples, including LGBTQI+ couples, multicultural families, and anyone looking to celebrate their way, not the outdated way. At the end of the day, I’m not here to plan a wedding—I’m here to plan YOUR wedding. And I’m going to make sure it’s one people talk about for all the right reasons!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Friday:
I would pick my friend up at the airport and take her to her hotel. We’d spend the afternoon pool or beachside with some fruity umbrella drinks (probably a good Pina Colada!) That night we’d pick a place for dinner probably Kaluz and then wrap up the evening on Las Olas at Ann’s Florist & Coffee Bar for a piece of Key Lime Pie and a cappuccino.
Saturday:
I love to start my day on the beach so we’d start with some morning yoga. Next stop would be brunch at Tap 42 and then we’d hit the town for some shopping and people watching. Dinner would be at another favorite of mine… at Casa Sensei.
Sunday:
Sleep in, then grab pastries at Nanou French Bakery and chill on the beach with our pastries and coffee. There is nothing like an ocean breeze, strong coffee, and one last toast to the best weekend!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give a heartfelt shoutout to my husband, Joel, and my parents, Monica and Bob, and my bestie, also Monica…my forever support team!
Joel, you are my calm in the chaos and you always manage to show up with quiet strength and strong coffee at exactly the right moment.
Monica…my best friend and honorary COO—you have been my sounding board, hype squad, and voice of reason when I needed it most.
And to my Mom and Dad! You laid the foundation by showing me what entrepreneurship looks like and encouraging me to chase big dreams with both grit and grace. Ramos Events may have my name on it, but it’s built on the love, support, and example you’ve given me every step of the way.
