We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Romine and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Megan, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking

I like to think of risk taking as a muscle that has to be trained and put under pressure to grow. By building up your ability to take risks, over time you will find that you are able to move and adapt out of your comfort zone more frequently, each time with a little more ease. Moving out of your comfort zone and building up your risk muscle is a core attribute of being able to overcome obstacles, reach your full potential, and succeed in life. This can be applied in our work and personal lives. Oftentimes, we fail to realize that it is not external factors that hinder us from growth; it is actually ourselves and our own mindset. I have accredited some of the largest successes in life and in my career thus far to having the ability to take risks- knowing that there is always a possibility of failure, but not being hindered by failing or the sense of fear. We put failure in a category of having such a negative connotation when the reality is quite the opposite. Failure and risks can provide the richest soil for some of the largest catalysts in the next stage of our lives/careers. I took a large risk nearly a decade ago- I moved to a place I had never been to before, alone- without having a place to call home or an established group of contacts. There was no promise of stability, and the odds of my circumstances were against me, more than being favored. But I had a dream of making my imprint in the highly competitive world of real estate, and I always had the feeling that it would work out. I believed it so much that I did not have any type of back up plan in place. I kept working hard, moving forward, and never quit (even when I felt like I couldn’t keep going, I did). I do feel that many people quit right before they are on the brink of a breakthrough. I took yet another risk when I left corporate real estate to continue the pursuit of my career path within the industry: My dream of creating my own company, Luxuré Real Estate. Luxuré Real Estate was created from strong core values, cutting edge results, and the intention of creating custom experiences with white glove services. Without risk, I wouldn’t have left my home town in one of the most rural parts of West Virginia. I would not have been able to create a company/culture that prides itself on commitment to excellence, integrity, and creating an experience for our clients and community. Taking risks and keeping a ‘you can do it’ mindset can provide a ripple effect in your life and to others around you which can positively affect the world. Do not be afraid to fail; the only type of fear that should drive you is the fear of living with the regret of not trying or living up to your full potential. • What influenced you to get into this profession?

I always dreamed of being in Real Estate since I was a young girl. When I moved to Florida, I was inspired by the South Florida lifestyle and my newly discovered passion for the ocean. I am originally from a very small town in West Virginia- I grew up surrounded by a community that treated everyone like family. I moved to South Florida to continue my dream of a successful real estate career with a life full of purpose, adventure, and giving back to others. I have been in the industry for over 13 years; from managing properties and portfolios to becoming a top producing agent and owner of Luxuré Real Estate.

Real Estate provided a way of creating my own path in life. I found that by branding myself as ‘The Mermaid Realtor’, I was able to attract waterfront clients who also loved the water along with the South Florida lifestyle- fishing, diving, and boating. My dreams come true every morning when I wake up to all of the opportunities that South Florida has provided for myself and my team. My bigger picture and purpose is encouraging others to always do better in life and help others. I am a believer in helping our local community through fundraisers and local events that make our city better each step along the way. Real Estate has provided the opportunity to always put my best foot forward, while giving back to others and our community.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would provide them with the Luxuré Approved guide of local hot spots and restaurants in the area! Twice a month, we feature a business in town that we want to share with others- we provide details on what they are best known for, and also a small background story on the owner/their vision for what (or why) they created their company. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is to my mentor, friend, and business partner over the years- Marshall Sklar. Marshall has given endless amounts of his time, knowledge, and experience to help others without expectations. His altruism, family oriented values, and unprecedented successes in business sets an exemplary standard for entrepreneurs and leaders in our community. I would not be where I am at today if it was not for his guidance, patience, and consistent mentorship over the past decade. He has taught me the importance of not only business related decisions, but the importance of living life,giving back, unwavering integrity, and never giving up. He supported my vision (even when our visions are not exactly the same), as well as provide support and solutions over the years as I experienced the highs and lows of entrepreneurship. The great part about a mentor is that you can be on the fast track of succeeding by learning from the lessons and experiences that they have had over the years. His family comes first, he believes in supporting and helping our local community, all while running multiple successful businesses that help enrich other people’s lives.
