We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Montero-Caicedo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michelle, how does your business help the community or world?
My business is in the mental health industry so by default its primary goal isto help alleviate emotional pain. At Turning Point Mental Health Center we continuously work on building a team of clinicians that offer compassionate services and expertise in various forms of treatment interventions. By improving the mental health of each of our clients we believe that we have a positive impact on our community as whole.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Turning Point Mental Health Center offers psychiatric services, counseling, psychological testing and mental health case management by a group of caring, ethical and experienced clinicians that will work with each client to find balance in their life.    I believe that what sets us apart from other mental health practices is that along with traditional counseling services, we also offer diverse and creative treatment modalities.  Examples include music therapy, interventions to deal with parent & child dynamics and interventions for the unique needs of specialized populations, such as veterans, active military and LGBTQ+.      The most important thing I want others to know about our practice is that Turning Point Mental Health Center is committed to making a positive difference in each of our client’s lives.  Per client reviews, at Turning Point they have felt “safe”, “understood”, and that they “finally found a good therapist”.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I recently visited a resort in Marathon, Florida Keys, called Isla Bella. It was fantastic! Very relaxing with amazing views. I would definitely pick a spot in the Keys and make sure to visit Key West. The Keys community is very friendly and you’re sure to find some of the best restaurants there. One of my favorites is Blue Heaven in Key West and now Il Portino in Marathon.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh my goodness, so many people to thank! On a personal level, I have to thank my family. Without my husband’s encouragement and support, I’m not sure that I would have entered into the entrepreneurship world.  He provided me with great advice and lots of cheering on!!! I also would not have been able to focus on my career without my mom’s help. She cared for my son while my husband and I were building our individual businesses.   Knowing that my son was in great hands allowed me to dedicate more time to my career. My brother is also someone who supports me unconditionally. On a professional level, my Clinical Supervisor and mentor, Dr. Lamberto Domingo, helped me grow as mental health professional and was the first to plant the seed of entrepreneurship. Lastly, Frances Allegra, esq., my last supervisor and CEO of the foster care agency where I oversaw the agency’s clinical services, consistently pushed me outside of my comfort zone.  I didn’t appreciate it then but now I’m very grateful for her vision.  I am a firm believer that life places people in your life for a reason and it is up to you to recognize how each relationship will impact your personal growth and vice versa.
