We had the good fortune of connecting with Michelle Stubbs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Michelle, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Having run weddings and events in the UK for the last 5 years I found myself often being approached by people to help organise their own special events and occasions. Miami has so many diverse and unique event spaces and is one of the party capitals of the world. I found myself drawn into the possibilities here!

What should our readers know about your business?
At Michelle Olivia Events we aim to impress the customer at every opportunity. We listen to our clients needs and do our utmost to exceed the clients expectations. Our staff love what they do and go above and beyond to help each customer and make their dreams a reality. We are constantly keeping ahead of the latest trends not only locally but globally! We have built a network of trusted and quality vendors that deliver the same level of results every time. We leave nothing to chance!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Friday after a day at the beach and maybe lunch at Waves @1hotel I would walk through south pointe park and pier to Montys for Happy Hour while the sun sets over the marina and the live band starts up! I ’d choose dinner at one of the many favourites in that area such as Milos, Joe’s, Prime or Intimo. Saturday is a great day to take in the atmosphere down Ocean Drive, maybe enjoy a lunch at the iconic former Versace Mansion. Have a shop down Lincoln Rd, followed by drinks at the rooftop at Juvia before dinner at Milas or Chotto Matte. I love to take people to Wynwood on Sunday and watch the array of classic and customised cars parade by. Take a stroll through the art walls before eating an artisanal pop from Ceilitos or indulge in a sweet treat from The Salty Dohnut. We would eat at KYU if we planned ahead or grab some mescal and Mexican at Bakan before heading up to Astra to watch the sunset. Other things not to miss would be tacos at Bodega, sunset cocktails at the rooftop at the 1 Hotel or The Standard Hotel, a Soul Cycle class outside on the rooftop at 1212 Lincoln, a bottomless brunch, a citi bike ride along the boardwalk, an evening stroll down Espanola Way, Thursday Salsa dancing at Ball & Chain.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Miami Focus group for its support to the industry and putting like minded people together. Petal Productions and the team for allowing me to shadow them in the amazing work they produce and witness the hard work the whole team puts into each event.
