We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Ann Telemaque and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah Ann, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks has played a huge role in my life now from business to family. I used to play things safe and play them with approval. The approvals that you get from family, friends, and peers. I have learned the approvals only keep things safe. We rely on them to feel safe enough to make a decision. Think about it… when you are taking a risk, 85% of the time people around you won’t agree with what you are getting ready to do. To me, it is something that lives on the other side of fear and it requires fearlessness to even take it. I had to begin to take risks in my life or else my life would have been very cookie-cutter, purposeless, and not inspirational. Risks don’t make sense and they aren’t supposed to. Risk has the possibility of failure, which in turn leads to success anyway. You have nothing to lose when you take a risk and even if you do, the regret of not doing it is a far greater burden to carry than the failure of it not working out.

What should our readers know about your business?
My husband and I own a full-service creative agency located in Port Saint Lucie, FL. We create effective strategies for marketing and build strong identities that help connect people to brands and organizations. We serve our clients as problem-solvers, visionaries, and design experts ready to transform their brand. What sets Telemaque Creative apart is strategy. Everything we do is built from that foundation. We don’t just design campaigns or ads for our clients. We don’t just design websites and logos. We get in the ground with problem-solving and produce solutions for our clients. This company started off as a vision and manifested into something physical. It is continuing to expand. We are excited because we are expanding and building out our marketing department which means more space. The point that we have gotten to is just the beginning even though we are 3 years in. We have grown, made mistakes, sacrificed much, and have taken risks that haven’t made sense but have paid off. Entrepreneurship is never easy. It is not something that happens overnight either. It requires knowing your “why”, being consistent, having a persistent attitude to see no’s as a “not right now” or back to the drawing board. What I have learned through this journey is not to get comfortable. As soon as you begin to get comfortable there will be another level of stretching. Being comfortable is not enough. My story only took me to my purpose, but my mission is beyond my purpose. Knowing your purpose is great, but what lies beyond it? I want my son or daughter to experience my ceiling as their floor. That is the reason for what we do. It is a legacy. It is not about us, but about those that come after us. How do we move the ceiling to the floor for them? How do we live a life that can be a guide on their quest for their own meaning and purpose? Because if we make this about us then we have completely missed the point of the story, the point of it all.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In Port Saint Lucie, we actually have some nice places. Popstroke is a nice spot to hang with a group of friends and get some drinks. I love the Miller Ale House that opened up in tradition. It’s a nice sports bar. With covid, we haven’t been able to go out much, but when things open back up we look forward to going to some of the new restaurants around our area. My girls and I are foodies, so anything that involves food we are down for. Food and great conversation you can’t beat.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
You know there are so many people that have come into my life and have helped me move closer towards my purpose. To thank only one person would be impossible. What I will say is the no that I have received has directed me to the yes in my life. My husband and sisters have poured much encouragement into my life especially when I could not see myself.
