We had the good fortune of connecting with Molly Fonseca and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Molly, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As someone who dealt with weight issues growing up and struggled to find a healthy balance between health and fitness, I knew I wanted to help others reach their wellness goals. Taking the steps to start my own business has given me a sense of accomplishment and the flexibility I wanted to balance being a wife, mother and working professional. I get enjoyment out of teaching people how to becoming the best versions of themselves. “Health” doesn’t look the same on everyone. I believe you should be able to live healthy while still enjoying life’s simple pleasures – Strong Mind, Healthy Body. Happy Life. Owning my own business and working in several local studios over the past couple of years I’ve had the opportunity to help clients reach a variety of goals from weight loss to training for races to setting basic lifestyle habits. Everyones fitness journey is as unique as the individual. Winning is a team sport, coaching my clients towards their goals is the motivation that keeps me happy and driven to grow my business – and make new friends along the way.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Molly Fonseca Fitness started out with my passion to help others live their best lives. While there are many personal trainers and accountability coaches out there, I believe what sets me apart is the fact that I’ve been the person who’s struggled with my health and I know the importance of having a well qualified coach who not only creates a program to follow but that will also be there on a weekly basis to talk about what’s going well or what might need some improvements. I have a quote that I personally love to share with my clients, it’s a mindset that I instill the entire time I’m working with them. “I Can You Can” simply put, I consistently tell myself that I’m capable of accomplishing my goals and it’s the daily reminders that make me successful. My clients see me achieving things, which in turn makes them want to reach their own personal goals as well. Starting my own business wasn’t a walk in the park. At first I struggled just to figure out how to begin. I was so used to working for someone else that I was unclear how to navigate the entrepreneur life. It took me going to health/fitness conventions, researching others in the field that have started their own business and most importantly it required me to get over my fear of asking for help. Once I set my fears aside, I slowly started to see my dream come to life. Having a husband in the marketing field, he was the perfect person to help me build my website, run different marketing campaigns and guide me in the right direction to start getting some of my first clients. As my business began to take off, one of the lessons I learned was that the power of referrals is unlocked by the personal connections with my clients who inevitably become friends. Gaining new clients “friends” through referrals has been a great way to build the Molly Fonseca Fitness community. I want those looking for a change, that becoming a client of Molly Fonseca Fitness, you’re not just another person trying to navigate a new healthy life, that you’re unique and will be taken care of based on your own individual needs.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m lucky enough to live about a mile from Ft. Lauderdale beach which means this usually is the first place I take friends when they are visiting. One of the best ways to spend a morning is going for a run or walk as the sun comes up and taking in the beauty. I love taking the short drive down to the Key’s and visiting John Penny Camp where I often go kayaking. There’s something about being out in the open water that is so peaceful and becomes the perfect place to reflect on life. This typically becomes a favorite adventure of those that visit me here in South Florida. Finally capping the night off with dinner on Las Olas at the Lobster Bar and Grill. I don’t think there’s a better ambiance in Ft. Lauderdale when it comes to fine dining. If you’re there be sure to try the grilled octopus appetizer!!!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve had the privilege of having parents who always reminded me that I could do anything that I set my mind to. While this has definitely guided me along the way, I have to give a fair amount of recognition to both my husband and children. Before starting my own business, I was in the corporate world and didn’t have a sense of fulfillment. It was my husband who would ask me on a daily bases “what makes you happy every day” and each time I would answer “achieving my fitness goals”. He pushed me to find a way to put my own joy into the universe which is ultimately how I got started in my own business. Today, it’s my two children who drive me to push myself to be successful. I want them to see that they are capable of doing something they love for a living.
