Meet Monika Kreinberg | Owner/Founder of Furever Us

We had the good fortune of connecting with Monika Kreinberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Monika, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
It might sound cliche to say that I am a world citizen. But, I do believe I truly am. Originally I was born in Germany and have moved to 7 different countries and three different states and have traveled worldwide since then. I speak English, German, Spanish, French, and Italian fluently and can defend myself in Portuguese.

Growing up in an environment where I constantly meet new people and am presented with new cultures has made me very open-minded. I believe that each person can teach us something about where they are from and what their beliefs are, and this, in turn, can help me understand them.

Maybe this hunger for knowledge has created an exciting career path for me that is not straight, but I would say more winded. I have worked in large corporations in different positions such as public relations, banking, and accounting. And I have opened various small businesses. All this has helped me become the person I am today. It has enabled me to work with people on a genuine level and understand their needs. I opened Furever Us because I believed there was a need for this service that did not exist prior. Many might find it silly or small-in comparison to what I could be doing. But, the thing is, I enjoy it, and it fulfills me. And, I get to work with animals which is truly a passion of mine.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Furever Us was born out of an idea during my wedding. I have always wanted to include my dogs in our wedding, but it wasn’t easy logistically. I managed, but not without learning some hard lessons. First, I saw a hole in the market where couples greatly needed this type of service. So I started coming up with the idea that followed a strategy and a business plan.

Furever Us helps me fulfill my passion. I have always loved pets, and what better way to show them how special they are and to include them in one of the best days of your life. It was not easy to start—many thought of it as an idea that would not take off. I knocked on many doors explaining the benefits of having such a service, and little by little, the name Furever Us has become a name people associate with wedding pet care. It is more than just a service- it is also a way to give back. We donate a small portion of each wedding to a rescue or a specific animal in foster care.

Since I have started Furever Us, there have been other similar services in other states. If someone asked me how Furever Us is different, I would say the people I hire. I am not looking for just a dog walker. I want people on board that give part of their time and money to rescue animals. I hire people that have experience with animals in a hospital setting. Animals are like chocolates; you never know what you will get. You have to be ready for anything. I believe that you can only make a good first impression once. And in weddings, that is undoubtedly the case. Punctuality, etiquette, a skill to know dogs, and a friendly personality are all essential attributes of a great Furever Us team member.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Honestly, that is a good question. I used to be able to answer that in heart beat. Now during covid, I honestly could not tell you what restaurants or places are in. As a wedding vendor I like certain location such as Vizcaya, The Addison has some great events, homestead has some wonderful venues as well that are gorgeous for those planning a wedding. Coral Gables miracle mile has some of the best wedding dress shops around.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I think a lot of people have helped me along the way. Even those that have put obstacles. I have to say thank you to the usual suspects, my family, which includes my husband. They are used to me constantly coming up with new business ideas and riding that wave. I always say a company is nothing without the people in it. So a shoutout to all the Furever Us team, especially Rachel, who has become an essential part of the team. She wears many hats, including the primary doggie handler and sales representative. Now she is starting to try her skills in social media. My goal is to continue to grow slowly but steadily. I want to develop a company that does not sway away from its core values of integrity and quality.

Lastly, I have to thank my vendor friends who have been behind our little business and have spread the word. The sales team at the Addison, Mary-Jane, and Allan from ‘From Engaged to Married,’ Laura from ‘Spur of the Moment.’ I cannot thank them enough for being a ‘friendor.’
