Meet Mya Westray | Beauty Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mya Westray and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mya, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My business is rooted in empowerment. At The Pink Beauty Bar, I focus on helping women feel confident, cared for, and seen—both inside and out. One of the most meaningful parts of my work has been helping clients like Justice, who came to me after a tragic accident. Being able to help her rebuild her confidence through beauty, compassion, and a safe space reminded me why I do this. My goal is to create a community where healing, confidence, and self-expression are always prioritized.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart is the heart behind my work. Nothing about my journey was easy—it took years of practicing, learning, failing, and getting back up again. Through dedication, discipline, and trusting God’s timing, I turned my passion into something beautiful and meaningful. Every challenge shaped me into the artist and woman I am today.
I’m most proud of how much I’ve grown and how far my vision has expanded. What started as a love for beauty has grown into a lifelong commitment. I’m now working toward my esthetician license so I can elevate my craft, offer even more services, and build the bigger vision I see for myself—a full beauty and wellness experience that empowers women inside and out.
I overcame obstacles by staying focused, praying through the hard moments, and being thankful for every opportunity, big or small. I kept reminding myself that purpose requires patience. The lessons I learned—keeping faith, trusting myself, and never giving up—are why I’m here today.
What I want the world to know about my brand is that The Pink Beauty Bar is built with intention, love, and genuine care. My work isn’t just about beauty—it’s about confidence, healing, and transformation. Every person who sits in my chair is treated with compassion, artistry, and respect. My story is still unfolding, but I’m grateful and excited for everything God has planned next.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to visit, I’d plan a week centered around living life, creating memories, and enjoying every moment. We’d start with peaceful mornings by the water, then brunch at local Black-owned restaurants with good food and even better vibes. I’d take them to holiday markets and small businesses to support the community, and we’d spend a fun day at a fair or carnival for that nostalgic, carefree adventure.
We’d balance the week with self-care, beautiful scenery, great meals, and simple moments—like a beach picnic or exploring local events. To me, the best time isn’t about fancy places; it’s about good energy, good people, and experiences that turn into lifelong memories.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe so much of my success to my family, especially my mom. She has been the foundation of everything I’ve built—her strength, support, and constant belief in me kept me going even on the hardest days. My family has always encouraged my vision, pushed me to chase bigger dreams, and reminded me of who I am when I doubted myself. My mom is the reason I show up with compassion, resilience, and purpose in my work every single day. This journey is mine, but it was made possible because of her.
I also want to thank my clients and the people who continue to show up for me, support my work, and refer me to others. Every appointment, every message, every recommendation has played a real role in my growth. I wouldn’t be here without the community that believes in me, trusts me, and allows me to be part of their beauty and wellness journey.
