We had the good fortune of connecting with Nancy Cabrera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nancy, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
Tattooing. It’s something I’m very passionate about and I take it very seriously. I’ve been tattooing for seven years in South Florida and it beats any other job I’ve had in the past. It’s my creative outlet that I feel most comfortable with and it brings me more joy to know that my tattoos put smiles on people’s faces. I love being able to travel and meet other tattooers which helps to learn tips and tricks which help grow and better my craft. I’ll be tattooing as long as I can.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My artwork is based off of Americana traditional and neo traditional styles. I focus on my style of pin ups more than anything and I try and provide crisp, clean and colorful tattoos. If you ask what I’m most proud of it’s definitely my line work in my tattoos. Tattooing lines really brings me to my happy place because I get so focused on doing it and when they come out nice and clean I just know it’s going to be a really nice tattooat the end. It took me two apprenticeships, a whole lot of trial and errors and tons of effort with immense passion to get to where I’m at today. I’m constantly trying to find ways to improve my artwork.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
South Florida has so much to offer! Besides the beach I like to take my friends and family to the many gardens that are here. Sometimes to Wynwood to check out the newest murals and definitely out to my some of my favorite places to eat.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shout out to my bosses, Holden and Gwen, who run Formula Ink Tattoos in the heart of Fort Lauderdale. Without their knowledge, acceptance and support, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
