We had the good fortune of connecting with Xavier Harrington and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Xavier, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
It may sound cliché but doing what I love makes me happy. There’s a certain satisfaction you get when you’re doing what you love and thriving while doing it. It’s one of the best feelings imaginable. They say if you have a career doing what you love then it will never feel like work. I find that to be very true. I’ve always wanted to work for myself and push myself to become better at what I do. I see myself as my best and most important ongoing project because there is always room for improvement and growth. it make me happy to see that I could possibly one day inspire someone else like me to invest in themselves and go for their goals. it also fills my heart to see like-minded individuals like myself becoming successful in anything they do. There’s something about seeing those around me succeed that makes me feel great. I love when my team wins!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’d like to consider myself the type of person who sees art in everything. Growing up, one of my favorite things to do was draw. I would draw all day everyday and anything I could but I always ended up wanting to take it a step further. After drawing it was painting, then after painting it was sculpting, then soon after it was photography. My goal was to always to explore and not limit myself. It can definitely be a gift and a curse being interested in so many things but my love for all things art wouldn’t let me be happy with one avenue. I always knew I wanted to work for myself doing what I loved but I loved doing so much. It wasn’t easy because I struggled for years trying to figure out my purpose, but with much prayer, brainstorming, trying, and failing I thought of a way to incorporate it all and that’s when I started Harrington Imagery where the slogan is “It’s more than just photography” because it really is just that. It’s where you can come for all your artistic needs and more. I was so proud to have taken that first step. I believe that’s what sets me apart is because there are no limits to what can be created. I’ve learned so many lessons about myself as a creative and business person. I’ve learned about the do’s and don’ts of business and I’ve learned there’s always room for growth and development. I want anyone out there who may want to follow their dreams but aren’t sure or doubting themselves to just go ahead and do it. It can seem easier said than done, and sometimes I even have to remind myself, but in the end you can say you at least tried it and have a story to share like me. No more excuses.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of my favorite spots to eat would be Places like Wimbo’s Grill in Lauderhill, Bamboo shack in Miami Gardens, World Famous Eggrolls in Hollywood, House of Mac in North Miami Beach, and Honey Uninhibited in Miami just to name a few. I’m not the type of person that likes to go out much but I do like going to places like Las Olas boulevard in Fort Lauderdale, Fort Lauderdale beach, and Hollywood Beach.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It’s so hard to try and narrow down the list of people who have supported, inspired and encouraged me in my journey. From my friends and family that trusted me to shoot their weddings and events especially when I was just starting out, to my wife who always believed in me and always continued pushed me a step further. As far as mentorship goes, I would have to specifically recognize my father-in-law Michael “Sarge” Hanna. As a person who has been a photographer for years he continues to take me under his wing and invest his time and provide wisdom on how I can improve my craft. His willing spirit to mentor me has given me the fuel I needed to keep going.
