We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalie Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natalie, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m from Glasgow, Scotland and lived there all my life until I moved to America a few years ago. I feel so lucky to have grown up in Scotland, surrounded by my amazing family. I think my upbringing and my country’s culture influences everything I do even if it’s just in subtle ways. I have so much appreciation for my heritage and family. I think of Scottish people as strong but also kind and friendly! We’ll take care of you over there! So these values of kindness and also courage, I try and take with me in everything I do today!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a singer/songwriter and Music Supervisor. I feel the music I write covers the highs and lows that are a part of being human, and I like to think that my music always has a thread of hope and strength in there! My songs, even the ones that are about challenging times or emotions, always have a sense of light, even if it’s just peaking through! I hope that my songs uplift, strengthen and inspire people and make people feel seen and less alone!

I moved to America from Scotland to pursue a career in music, and have been working as a singer/songwriter and performer for a number of years in and around L.A. I’m also a Music Supervisor and I love it! I feel so passionate about the alchemy of music combined with visuals, whether that’s in film, TV or adverts. I think it’s magical and I love working in this field! I feel like I bring my background and passion for music into everything I do, and it’s so satisfying working on a project and seeing it come together!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have so many people in my life that have all played a part in my story! SO many people to thank for their kindness, encouragement and support! From my family and friends in Scotland who encouraged me to take the leap and pursue my dreams, to every person on this journey offering their kindness, care, advice, resources, guidance – and even their couches to sleep on when I first moved to America! Thanks to EVERYONE that has helped me – I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for all of you!!!
