Meet Nick Vargas | Photographer and IT professional

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nick Vargas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nick, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued an artistic and creative career because it allows me to express my unique perspective and connect with others on a deeper level. From a young age, I found joy and fulfillment in artistic endeavors, and only as a young adult did I realize that creativity was an integral part of who I am. It gives me the freedom to explore my imagination, experiment with different mediums, and constantly challenge myself. I have struggled to be creative in different forms such as writing or drawing, but photography allows me to tell my unique human story.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Getting to where I am today professionally has been a journey filled with both triumphs and challenges. It certainly hasn’t been easy, but overcoming those challenges has been a significant part of my growth as a photographer.

One of the key lessons I’ve learned along the way is the importance of perseverance. Building a successful photography business requires dedication, hard work, and the willingness to learn from failures. There were times when I faced rejections, encountered technical obstacles, or struggled with self-doubt. However, I never let those setbacks deter me from pursuing my passion. Instead, I used them as opportunities to learn, grow, and refine my skills.

In terms of my brand and story, I want the world to know that my photography goes beyond just capturing images. It is about creating lasting memories, evoking strong emotions, and telling stories that resonate with people. While being hired to create content has been a significant part of my professional journey, I have never allowed it to overshadow my personal art creations. I firmly believe in the importance of nurturing and expressing my own artistic vision and voice, alongside fulfilling client projects, after all, that is why I started!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have a deep love for Miami’s captivating spots, like it’s many abandoned structures, historic landmarks, and beautiful beaches. They serve as endless sources of inspiration for my photography. From iconic landmarks like the Art Deco buildings in South Beach to the historic neighborhoods of Coconut Grove and Little Havana, each location tells a tale of cultural heritage and architectural significance. Through my photography, I strive to capture the essence of these historical landmarks, celebrating their timeless allure and their contribution to Miami’s vibrant identity. I am also very much drawn to industrial areas that have been decorated with street art (graffiti) I find it fascinating to capture these rogue artists work, even if their ethics are questionable. It’s all about telling a story of which I believe Miami has an extremely diverse and interesting one.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am extremely grateful to my family for their unwavering support in my photography journey. Especially my fiancé and mother. Their encouragement, belief in my abilities, and understanding of the challenges that come with pursuing a creative career have been invaluable to me. From the beginning, they recognized my passion for photography and have stood by me every step of the way. Their support has not only shaped me as a photographer but also as an individual, and I will forever be grateful for their presence in my life.
