We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicolas Roman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicolas, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
After working everyday for 28 years for a thankless company who did not value its employees, I realized that I was living groundhog day everyday. Counting the days until retirement is not the way to live life. I wanted to open a business and empower my employees to succeed and live better lives.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I worked as an Engineer most of my life and deep down I knew that some day I will own my own business and will be able to succeed with sound principles of good service and ethics. I feel that I was born again after opening my business. Going into the unknown, was definitely very exciting and now that we are operating and slowly growing, it feels that every day is a new day.
You have to take the challenges as they come. At first, it seems like a mountain is in front of you and you don’t have a clue how to get to the other side. But, with patience and a good attitude you can slowly carve a small path and soon enough you get a clear vision on how to proceed to the other side.
One step at the time and knocking it down one by one have been the way I approach challenges and hardships.
I would like the world to know that there is more time than life, you have to use your time wisely and take advantage of each day.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Las olas for dinner, sawgrass for shopping, Hollywood for the beach, rusty pelican for brunch, southport for raw oysters on the water, viscaya of course and Lincoln road for art.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It may sound cliche but my mother has been my inspiration all my life. Now at 92, she continues to give us her love and devotion. Widowed in her 30’s with 5 children, my mother worked hard to put us all through college and she is the definition of woman power.
