Meet Nicole Comis | Founder, The Shoppe

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Comis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind the success of our brand is the community. Because we are a small business and rely tremendously on our reputation and our customer satisfaction, the network and community of clients and customers we’ve built sharing their experiences and referring us has been a huge part of building our business here in West Boca. Also, since all of the professional women that provide the beauty and wellness services at The Shoppe are independent, we rely on each other to cross promote our business and services to each others network and community. We introduce The Shoppe clients to their services and they also bring in their existing clients to provide their services to at The Shoppe. We work together to join our communities and networks. Because of the support of our community and momentum of our services and events we are also producing our first wellness retreat in October 2023 in Key Largo.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started out in women’s contemporary wholesale fashion in NYC when I was 20 years old. Over the next decade I worked directly with designers, and at multi line agency before starting my own multi-brand wholesale representation agency in 2013. From there I also created a “Fashion Co-Op” which was a desintation showroom experience for multiple fashion brands to show their collections together in NYC during Fashion Month twice a year, all curated by me. It was this endeavor that I learned that people really want to get more than one service or experience from their valuable time, and also that I really loved bringing groups together by way of my relationships and network. Cut to 2022 and my family and I are moving from NYC and Puerto Rico to West Boca and I wanted to also plant roots professionally here. I created The Shoppe which is a fashion, beauty and wellness boutique and services location. Our customers and clients can shop our private label collection of women fashion, book a full menu of hair services including extensions, get eye brow design, threading and waxing and also facial and massage services. We also have fantastic events where we collaborate with other independently owned women businesses with pop ups, demos, classes and other activities.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We live in West Boca so we bounce around for restaurants. We love all the Steakhouses in Boca – New York Prime is classic and probably my most favorite. In Delray I will always love Lionfish, its not new but its still a hot spot and its always a great time, great service, great food, great cocktails. In Palm Beach, La Goulue is my forerunner. We’re transplanted New Yorkers and dinner at the bar with my husband will always be my first choice for a night out.

I would most certainly schedule a reading with the most special Jolie DeMarco at My Flora Aura in East Boca. She’s a metaphysics expert, claire-audient and medium. She has an incredible shop of crystals and her readings, classes and meditations are exceptional.

I’m not a big high intensity work out gal anymore so my go-to is yoga, meditation and sound bath on Palm Beach with @jillianspopupyoga. Its really wonderful and if you time it right for a full moon, new moon or other planetary celebration you’re in luck, those are magical.

This is obvious, but I would definitely bring my BFF to The Shoppe – to shop, get a blow dry (or other hair services) eye brow design, massage or facial (or both) It can be a full day if you want.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This is a new business, but not my first. I have a wholesale women’s clothing representation business in NYC as well as having another retail shop in Puerto Rico until end of 2022. My husband, Alex, is incredibly wise and supportive and I couldn’t have my own business and balance family life at all without him. I’m married to an amazing guy that doesn’t hold me back or discourage me from anything professionally, in fact helps me with a most business matters and gives me all the space possible to focus on creativity and brand building ideas.
