We had the good fortune of connecting with Eric Becerra and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eric, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Success is subjective and relative; for someone, it may be having a pet store, and for others, that would be something they would never do. I have always said that success is mental, and one as a human and creative being has the power to achieve it whenever one wants. Success for me is simply living happily. It is a simple concept at first glance, but one that involves a lot of emotional intelligence and sacrifice. In my case, I am happy when I surround myself with people and projects that vibrate in a positive way. I am successful because, little by little, I achieve personal goals and objectives, I become what I really want to be, and above all, I live my life happily.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Since I was little, I knew that I wanted to be an actor; in elementary school, I always signed up for workshops and plays. Every time the teachers asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always said the same thing: actor. Where I lived in Cuba, there was not much cultural movement, so it was difficult for me to participate in this art world. It was until I came to the United States and took up this desire to act. It has been and is still a difficult road; it is a career of ups and downs. There are times when I have many projects and suddenly none. I have gone through several challenges, firstly leaving Cuba and going to Tampa, United States, with a backpack with a change of clothes, but full of dreams and starting a new life. After years in the United States, one of the other risks was to leave my financial stability and my stable life and move to the city of Miami alone, in search of new opportunities within the art world. I love Miami for its people, cultural diversity, food, and atmosphere.

As an actor, I am constantly growing; although I have passed many courses and masterclasses with excellent actors, every day, I learn something new about this profession. I am currently studying in a new school: Adriana Barraza Acting Studio; for me, it has become an artistic home with excellent teachers and good energy.
What distinguishes me within the guild is my creativity, commitment, and responsibility with each project. I respect every project, whether small or large because I learn from everyone. I am also very open to constructive criticism from directors and teachers, which has helped me understand the profession in-depth.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Miami fascinates me for its diversity of places, from beaches, bars, casinos, to nightlife, but the place that gives me the most peace and I would always recommend is Miracle Mile & Downtown Coral Gables. Coral Gables is small, but there is everything, beaches, museums, theater, libraries, historic sites even peacocks, and much more. There is a boulevard full of restaurants with an aesthetic that I love; without a doubt, since I arrived in Miami, this place transmits positive energy to me.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To my parents. They have been and will be a fundamental pillar in my personal growth since always. To MT Productions for opening the doors to me in the artistic field, with them, I discovered the magic of art. And finally to all the laws of the universe that conspire in my favor.
