We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Melgarejo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Going into any career that is outside of the “norm” comes with risks. But I’ve never been one to take the normal path. I see risks as a chance for growth and change. If I never took risks I wouldn’t be where I am today. I was always very shy growing up and never expected to be a model, singer, artist, or MUA. Every show, casting, and job I threw myself into came with risks, but it seemed to pay off every time. Every experience built me up for the next shoot or business opportunity and brings me closer to achieving my goals. Success without risk doesn’t exist. If you’re thinking of chasing your dreams you should definitely take some risks.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what’s interesting about me is that I can do so many things; I’m not stuck in one category. What I’m most proud of at the moment is all the magazine editorials I’ve helped create and been featured in. Having a team of creatives on my side definitely helped me get to where I am now. It was relatively easy to find our team but the work we do is far from easy. We always put a lot of effort into our projects because we hate to create anything that we wouldn’t be proud of. We overcome challenges together as a team and always work hard to put out quality work. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that even if you have a vision it takes a team to create it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Personally my favorite spots in South Florida are all near the ocean. I love going to the beach in Ft. Lauderdale and boating the Keys with my family. If I had a friend coming down to visit we would head down to Key Largo and spend a few days at my parents’ place. We would go to the local snorkeling spots and sandbars as well as have dinner at my favorite diners such as Mrs. Macs and Sundowners. We would spend the remaining time in Ft Lauderdale at the beach and dining at some of the restaurants on A1A and Las Olas.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There’ are so many people and groups I could credit for helping me achieve my dreams, but I’d say the two biggest organizations to help me out were Range of View Productions and House of Top Models. ROV productions is an amazing production company filled with talented photographers, videographers, and so much more. Not only do they help me get makeup opportunities they also helped me build my model portfolio and pushed me to take my businesses more seriously. It’s like a little family of creatives and we’re all supporting and pushing each other to be the best versions of ourselves. As for HOTM, they taught me so much about modeling and the industry in general. There, I was trained in photo pose, runway, film, etiquette, and speech. They also gave me real world experience and so much confidence. When you’re there, you’re treated like family and given all the tools to become a successful model. Because of them I was able to get signed by an agency in New York.
