We had the good fortune of connecting with Francoise Dubois and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Francoise, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always wanted to be independent since I was a child. I kept the same mindset growing up and told myself that I would own my own business when I got older. So, when I lost my job in 2018, I decided to pursue doing hair full time and no longer as a side hustle. It was God’s plan.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My name is Francoise, and I am a self-taught hairstylist. I’ve been doing hair since I was 14 years old. I am 33 years old at the moment. Growing up, I’ve always done hair as a side hustle but decided to go full time in 2018. I started my professional journey at a salon for a few months and decided to pursue my own shop later on. aim to please all of my clients by providing them extraordinary service while beautifying them at the same time. My goal is to make sure you get VIP treatment, so you walk out as the best version of yourself. I specialize in braids, plaits, sew-ins, bond ins, faux locs, etc. I am proud of the smiles I put on my client’s faces by providing them with amazing service. I’m not sure what sets me apart from other hairstylist. I love what I do and pride myself on making sure each client is happy and satisfied before they leave. It has not been a smooth road for me. When I decided to start doing hair professionally, I had to build my clientele all over again since I was going to be doing hair full time and no longer as a side hustle. It took a while to get to where I am now. With help from the salon, I was able to build my clientele and start making real money. I had to learn new techniques certain hairstyles as well to quicken my time so that I can take on a lot of clients throughout the day. Lessons I’ve learned along the way: have thick skin, always be professional no matter what and take pride in your work, have confidence. I want the world to know that I’m on my way! Lol I pray that my hard work and dedication pays off in the long run.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God first & foremost because He opened this door for me. I also want to thank everyone that has supported and encouraged me on this journey to move forward and keep going. I want to thank the LC Beauty Salon in Fort Lauderdale, FL who gave me an opportunity to work with them and build my clientele. Last but not least, my children who motivate me to keep going for them.
