We had the good fortune of connecting with Nika Samples and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nika, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I first started thinking about women’s health I was working as a waxing technician, and I saw the need. The majority of my clientele were women getting brazilian waxes. At the time it was my responsibility to provide information about best practices for waxed skin, but there was no product for unpleasant odor. My clientele would ask me if I had any information that would help prevent infections, or a cleanser to “freshen up” with after intimacy. Those concerns prompted me to research to uncover the root cause of these issues. The majority of my guests were experiencing unhealthy scents that were making them uncomfortable, and I was uncomfortable as well. I knew that it was not a choice, but rather a cry for help. The information was not openly available for the women that were quietly suffering in silence. Most people with vaginas are too self conscious to speak out about their vaginal health issues because of the taboo associated with it. Once I started the journey of reading about gut health, how certain foods affect our microbiome, and ways that we can support ourselves naturally, I wanted to share the information right away. I named myself “The Vaguru” (Vagina Guru) because I wanted to be the go-to source for all natural, full body vaginal health. That same year I got my certification as a Vaginal Steam Practitioner and opened my own vaginal health spa in Nashville, TN. Since then my business has relocated to Atlanta, Ga.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Hello! I am The Vaguru. Thank you so much for choosing My Brand. Whether a woman is just beginning her feminine health journey towards holistic or seeking information to maintain a vaginal care routine, I am able to provide that information.

V Day Face and Body LLC was founded to provide women and people with vaginas a safe place for holistic health. Rooted in the belief that a woman’s vagina is integral to their overall well being. I am dedicated to ending suffering in silence when it comes to vaginal health, menstruation and sexual function.
As a Vaginal Health Consultant, I discuss:
•areas of improvement
•understand the why behind these issues •designed a solution based lifestyle routine

What sets me apart from others is that I have the awareness and empathy to know everyone has unique needs. And my approach is based on the entire body being healthy for the vagina to function at it’s best. The body is a unit, so all areas must be addressed for total balance and wellness.

I am most proud of the openness surrounding the topic of vaginal health care. It’s a real industry that needs more women like me! I got where I am today because I made a decision to put down all things in my life that caused my body stress, inflammation and anxiety. That is when I grew the ability to hear what I needed to heal myself from within. True beautification starts on the inside, and only thy self can make those modifications.

It was easy for me to walk into this space because I am this woman, I just didn’t know it. Helping and caring about others is innately in me. I am a natural educator and leader.
In my 9-5 line of work I help women feel more confident and comfortable in their bodies by working in tandem with cosmetic medical professionals. Sometimes we need a little extra help in our walk towards positive body image and weight loss.

I want the world to know that I am HERE. I am here to teach, to learn, to help, to be impactful, and to encourage and create leaders that are stewards over their own bodies. That is the way to work life balance, healthy relationships, sound mindednesses and self love. Self care is #1. That does not mean only caring about yourself. My definition of self care is taking out time to pour rest, relaxation, reading, exercise, natural foods, hydration and love into your life on a consistent bases daily.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The best time spent visiting a best friend is connecting intimately. I actually love this restaurant in Sandy Springs called The Select. I absolutely love the decor, it’s floral and beautiful! Super girlie fun vibes! They have this amazing lavender cocktail, a live band that plays oldies but goodies, and there are always cute guys there! It’s a great place to have colorful conversations and lots of laughs! I would also go to the Korean spa Jeju. I like to get a full body steam and scrub. That is a great way to relax. They also offer different hydrotherapy options, including vaginal steaming (hip baths) If we did go outdoors it would be in nature, like a walk or hike. My favorite little place is Roswell Mill. That location is very crowded on the weekends, so for a more private experience, the weekdays are better.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my Shout Out to Leo Samples for his everlasting encouragement and assistance in the cultivation of my brand. He has always helped me create content for my social media, photoshoots and videography projects. With the help of Leo, I was given my first video interview with Sheen Magazine, hosted by Kimberly Chapman. I was also cast for BET’s first reality date show called After Happily Ever After, in which Leo created and edited my video submissions and photos. He is such a brilliant mind, and he works very quickly! Leo sees the best in people, and helps you discover your gifts, and brings them to life on screen. I also want to thank my parents Bernadette and Lenny for their love and behind the scenes support. They have always encouraged me to be myself, be great and go for what I want in life! That is why I am where I am today. My family has always been there for me. Thank you for this interview.
