We had the good fortune of connecting with Nina Arce and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nina, what do you attribute your success to?
For me, it’s the relationships and networking. When I first started doing makeup I was an introvert. I knew, if I wanted to be successful, I had to step outside my comport zone and make myself more social and network with everyone. You can be the best makeup artist in the world but you also have to know how to get your clients; your network determines your net worth. I make friends with all my clients and water my relationships so the majority of my customers are always coming back.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve been doing makeup for 16 years now. I’ve worked with amazing people, celebrities, been on crazy sets and traveled the world doing what I love. It’s so important to find something you love to do. For me it’s not just makeup, I also love people. I love being apart of someone’s special day like a wedding or baby shower, I love the boost of confidence a client gets after I finish their face, I love the one on one communication I get with my client while in the glam chair; sometimes I’m a therapist, other times I’m just hoping to inspire or motivate. I think, no matter what, someone always remembers how you make them feel. And I always hope that whoever leaves my chair leaves feeling confident, beautiful and feeling like they can take on the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is Miami, we are known for the beach life! Boating is one of my top favorite things to do in this city. We also have amazing food; especially if you have a love for culture. Everywhere you turn you can get an empanada, colada (Cuban espresso shot for those that don’t know), pastelitos and so much more. But Miami also has a lot of art that sometimes people don’t know about. Wynwood is definitely the place for art and cool pictures. Then there is the nightlife… the party never really shuts down here in Miami, especially if you are looking for after hours clubs; All this before Covid of course.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m thankful to all my clients that refer me to others. A huge compliment for me is someone sharing with others the work I do.
