We had the good fortune of connecting with Noelle Ramsay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Noelle, how do you think about risk?
Risks are everywhere in life no matter what path you go down. Improving your mindset and increasing your knowledge, however, can decrease any amount of risk. You have to take chances if you want great things to come out of this life.

One thing to really hone down on is your mindset. I needed to make sure I was in the right headspace. I needed to make sure I was doing this for all of the right reasons. In doing so, it prevented me from ever giving up.

Taking risks has opened up many opportunities for me. Investing in supplies for my jewelry business was somewhat scary. I didn’t know if I’d every make a sale. I didn’t know if I’d make enough sales to make a good profit. I didn’t even know if I could make jewelry properly! Instead of throwing the idea aside, I did lots of research on different ways to make jewelry—different types of jewelry. I read books about finances to increase my financial literacy. And I made sure to be consistent throughout the entire process.

Remember, you can’t win the lotto without buying a ticket.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My main focus at the moment is the performing arts but I try to engage in many different art forms at all times. I think this makes me a better artist and I recommend many artists do the same. It allows you to communicate better through your work and I think communication is a main aspect of any art form.

Aside from communication, it is all about moving forward. Art is subjective. It’s impossible to please everyone but what’s interesting is that you can never be wrong. Sure someone may see your work and think “What the heck is this?” and proceed to laugh. So what? Art is supposed to make people feel something. You made that person feel a sense joy! You made them laugh! You made them smile! And I bet you will make them bring it up in conversation.

The biggest obstacle any artist needs to overcome is themselves. Their own doubts. Once you do, you will become unstoppable.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Museums hands down are my favorite places on earth and I would love to share that with someone. Museums and art galleries. We would go down to Miami, find a small restaurant to get some sandwiches, drink some lemonade to compliment the heat, and head out to an art gallery. Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami perhaps? We would probably spend a few hours there, too! And then of course walk through the fashion district afterwards while sippin’ on some smoothies!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Books are one of the main reasons that I have continued to move forward in everything I do. A few are, Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, and The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg. I think an overall category for them would be self-help and they contributed to just that. Overall, they made me realize just how powerful a person’s mind can be.

I would also have to of course credit the family and friends. Surrounding myself with excellent, intelligent people is a reason I am where I am today. My parents always say, “Show me your company and I’ll tell you who you are.” That’s something I always keep in the back of my mind whenever I let people into my life.
