We had the good fortune of connecting with Odette Khoudari and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Odette, why did you pursue a creative career?
From a young age, I have always been drawn to aesthetically pleasing visuals and would always find ways to make everything and anything look *prettier*. I knew I had a ton of creative ideas in my brain, and throughout the years I have figured out various mediums and outlets to express them and share them with the world. In my early 20’s I pursued a degree in Art Direction and since that moment I have been experimenting with my creativity and the millions of ways I can express myself artistically. Today, I consider myself a multidisciplinary artist and love to share my creativity through different mediums such as graphic design, photography, interior design, fashion consultation, canvas painting, ceramics, and of course, art direction. I truly believe each and every person has creative juices flowing inside of them and once they find the perfect outlet to let them flow from their brain out to the world, nothing can stop them!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I consider myself a multidisciplinary artist and have many different mediums through which I create and share my art. When starting on a new project, I always consider the various formats I can work with in order to achieve the most unique and incredible final result. Each project has its own DNA and that’s why I find it extremely important to figure out the best medium to express whatever it is I want to communicate with the certain project or campaign. For example, I began my creative journey as a graphic designer and this was my only medium for the first few years of my career. I then started experimenting with photography, collaging, and painting, which opened up many new doors for me in terms of new clients and projects. As of today, I have decided to pursue a degree in interior design and I am very excited to add this skill as a new outlet to express my creativity and share it with the world.
I believe the toughest part about being and artist is that art is totally subjective. There is no right or wrong, pretty or ugly… it’s just art. You will always encounter people who love what you do and others who don’t. The most important part is truly believing in yourself and the value your art has, regardless of what others may think. Self worth is key to being a successful artist.
The most important thing i’ve learned along the way is being open to expose myself to uncomfortable experiences – this is where I have found myself having the most personal and professional growth. Breaking out of my comfort zone has lead me to meet incredible people, places, and learn new skills!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am truly grateful for the mentorship, support, and motivation I have received from Dominique Morales, Vanessa Vega, and the entire Marketing Clique team. If it weren’t for my team of girl bosses, I would not be where I am today. They have motivated me, supported me, and encouraged me every step of the way. It has been an incredible experience to be collaborating with them since the early days of my creative career, and I am sure that we will keep growing and creating incredible things together!
