We had the good fortune of connecting with Oskar Torres-Lam and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Oskar, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
After working in the interior design industry for 21 years I decided to pursue my second passion: antique textiles. After countless years of travels and collecting I founded the Antique Textiles Galleries Home Collection. We are the source for interior designers, architects and collectors. The Antique Textiles Galleries Home Collection carries vintage and antique textiles, including home furnishing. All available through the number one platform in the world where people search “For the most beautiful things on earth” which is www.1stdibs.com
I’m so proud that this June 2022 my business will turn 10 years old.
The brand has been successful throughout this past decade in-part because I never stop creating and sourcing for new one-of-a-kind items. It keeps my clients coming back for more. My sources of inspirations are many: fashion, art, travels and current trends in style.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I immigrated with my family to New York City From Guayaquil-Ecuador when I was 15, and by my early 20s I was designing showroom and window displays and catalogue vignettes for the drapery and bedding industry. My passion blossomed after I graduated from the New York School of Interior Design and went to work for some of the industry’s most influential names in the interior design industry.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
