Meet Osmara Rojas | Professional dancer/choreographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Osmara Rojas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Osmara, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
My whole career began with me taking risks. From taking a risk auditioning to be an NFL cheerleader while still being in high school, to deciding to move to a completely different state where I didn’t know anyone, and starting over. I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing had i never taken any risks, and I’m still taking them to this day. Life is all about taking risks!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The past few years have been the hardest of my life, but also the most rewarding. I moved to Miami in pursuit of a dance career in 2017 and I can proudly say I have accomplished dreams that I never even imagined were possible. I am very proud of where I am now professionally, but to be honest I’m more proud of who I’ve become as a person. I now understand that everything in my life has happened for a reason, wether it hurt me or not. I have learned that no job or amount of money will bring you peace or happiness. Of course, it feels nice and it’s great to accomplish a goal but at the end of the day you’re never going to be satisfied if you put your worth in how much “success” you have. I’ve learned that it’s amazing to look towards the future and have dreams, but to never forget that the present is a gift that we shouldn’t take it for granted. Life is short. Enjoy every second. What I strive for the most is to inspire people, especially people back home in Texas. I want to show them anything is possible. I didn’t grow up dancing like most professional dancers, and there were many people that said I wouldn’t be able to make it a career, yet here I am.
Work hard and go after what you want!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well first of all, everyone that knows me knows that the beach is my home. I would make this friend wake up at the crack of dawn to catch the sunrise by the water (it is one of the most beautiful things.) Then I would make them workout with me at muscle beach, maybe go for a bike ride. After that, get breakfast/lunch at Tap 42. For dinner I would take them to Joia beach, it is one of the most beautiful restaurants I’ve ever been to! At night, I would take them to wynwood to dance the night away. 🙂

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My best friend/roommate Nicole. She was my first friend in Miami, and now she’s like a sister. I don’t think I would’ve survived these past few years without her.
