We had the good fortune of connecting with Oteria Mounds and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Oteria, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My business helps the world because it captivates on diversity and offers a unique piece for everyone. It’s a one stop shop and helps inspire insecure women to be the best version of themselves by allowing us to bring out the Prettiest’U.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m an artist. I make hip-hop and r&b music. I plan to expand my genre by practicing classical and pop music. I love to draw and I’m a communication major at The University of Louisiana Monroe. Currently, I’m a sports reporter with JustGood Network. It takes a lot of focus and determination to be an independent business women. I’m proud of myself for never limiting myself and continuing to do it all. Nothing in life is easy I’ve had setbacks, sacrificed a lot , and have been rejected. I overcame those obstacles by never giving up when doors get closed in my face. I learned that I am talented, everything happens for a reason and to take losses as win’s because there’s growth in mistakes. One lesson I learned is to never expect anything; move accordingly with your passion and invest in yourself. I want the world to know that you can do anything you put your mind to and my brand is to help motivate your inner stardom to come out and shine. You are a Star!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my best-friend to Hampton, VA.
Day 1 We would go to brunch at Monroe Rooftops.
Day 2 we would go running on Fort Monroe beach.
Day 3 we would go to soco or triple Effectz ultra lounge.
Day 4 we would go to lava lounge in Williamsburg.
Day 5 we would go to Busch gardens.
Day 6 we would go to Nail Luv
Day 7 we would go to PTC and the Patrick Henry mall to go shopping.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to God first and foremost. If it wasn’t for him my business would be nothing. I’d also like to thank my mother as she’s the initial creator of Prettiest’U boutique. I’m so grateful for her to be able to pass down a business to me at such a young age.
