Meet Paola Ramos | Actress and Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Paola Ramos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Paola, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am originally from the Dominican Republic and I have been living in Miami for 3 years now. I used to work as a marketing manager at a bank in my country but I always wanted to pursue acting and develop a project that had to do with social media. Starting my new live in the United States was the perfect opportunity to reinvent myself and start over. Coming from a background in advertising, it was super easy for me to immerse myself in the creative world of social media and I leveraged one of my passions which was hair care and beauty. In my country, hair care is something very important and something you dedicate a lot of your time to every week, so I can say that without a doubt my Latin roots inspired me to pursue that path as a content creator.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a content creator and actress, you never stop learning and growing. Creating content in Spanish while in the United States has been one of the most challenging things to do, as brands initially want to approach English-speaking Latino creators. Still, I feel like I’ve accomplished a lot since I arrived for someone who’s starting from scratch in their 30’s. For me, making content in my language is staying true to my roots and it’s also a symbol of my culture that will always be with me. I’ve already achieved recognition with some local brands and a nice community of 72K followers on TikTok, 40K on Instagram, and recently 6K on my YouTube channel that I launched a few months ago. I’ve also managed to develop my career as an actress by doing some television commercials and participating in theater plays in Miami. If I’ve learned anything, it’s that it’s never too late.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
What I like most about South Florida is that combination of quiet places and the city. The first thing I definitely do is take my friends for a walk along the Wynwood Walls. It’s an area full of street art that gives you a first glimpse of the city and has a very active and more accessible nightlife. And of course if they come to Miami I can’t miss taking them to the Brickell City Center to have lunch at Casa Tua. It’s a delicious Italian restaurant with very good service and lots of variety. If I were looking to spend more like a family time, I would take them to The Berry Farm, it’s my favorite place to take photos at sunset.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Arriving in a new country is full of challenges, doubts, and fears. And without a doubt, my husband’s support on this journey has been invaluable. It’s nice to have someone who believes in you and who, in the midst of everything, motivates you to keep going and pursue your dreams. In those moments where you want to give up, which are more common than you can imagine for someone who is dedicated to the arts and digital entrepreneurship, it is super important to be able to count on a partner who admires you and supports you every step of the way.
